Michael Bay Attached to TMNT Reboot (Mar 27: 1st Trailer released)

This story has been out there for over a week, but I just stumbled on it this morning and didn't see a thread on it. Link.

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have brought Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form on to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the live-action film that reboots the film series launched by New Line in 1990. Bay, Fuller and Form will produce with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick.

Maybe one of the few franchises he couldn't possibly ruin.

Seriously, it's cheesy and horrible enough without Bay and the premise does not have the potential to be good in any real way.

It's like the perfect marriage.

quite possibly one of the worst directors of all time. I remember back in the 80's when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were religion for me.

Disagree. I can pretty much see the character right now in my head...his Michaelangelo is going to make you pine for Jar Jar Binks.

I'm gonna start wiki'ing old cartoons to see what remains untouched. A friend of mine told me that there is also a Thundercats reboot in the works.

The original Michaelangelo makes me pine for Jar Jar Binks.

It was such a terrible show.

Thing is, the show followed the comic book, which was much darker and certainly not as cheesy as the cartoon, which was aimed at school age kids.

Even the show wasn't so bad the first season. The animation and writing took a steep decline after that.

So yes, Bay can certainly ruin this. But then again, he can ruin anything. Unless he makes "Explosions and T'n'A: The Movie" - he'd do well with that.

Michael Bay isn't as bad as people make him out to be, I mean he isn't even slated to direct this franchise, just produce it and everybody is up in arms.

Michael Bay and Uwe Boll should co-direct a movie like this. It would be so ****ing hilarious (and bad) that i'd actually watch it.

At least Bay has done a couple decent ones (The Rock, Transformers 1). What has Uwe Boll done? Exactly.

I was just going to counter him with Uwe Boll.

But Bay is still horrible. Transformers 1 was extremely disappointing to me. As for The Rock - to be honest I don't remember much about that movie, though I know I saw it. I wasn't terribly impressed, but I guess it was at least not bad enough to make a negative impression, either.
