Imagine if Ilya realized, maybe the grass isint much greener somewhere else and decides to come back to Atlanta... I give it about 1% chance of happening but ya never know with these Russians..
you'd all welcome him back with OPEN ARMS and you know it
its been the plan all along..turn down the fat deal (scare off potential suitors, increase KHL hype)...get back a SOLID return for ATL, while he gets a chance to 'learn' from a classy organization in the playoffs, 'promote' Waddell, the guy who traded him and name a new GM to 'bring him home'...8yrs $60m

The question is does he get a better deal in the NHL than either of the two reported offers the Thrashers made him?
He's not coming back; he's not going to the KHL and he won't get what the Thrashers offered him.
Plenty of KHL teams don't even make payroll every week. What good is a contract that may or may not be honored by a team that may or may not pay you and may or may not be around next season? That's a lot of risk to take on for playing in a tertiary league.
We are definitely better without him. You can't built a team around him, and you have to build a team around a player asking for that much money. No, thanks.
I'd like him back at 8 million a season, but he's not coming back even for 10, so you probably want to get that idea out of your head asap.
95% certain he's going to the KHL, been saying it for about a year now, now we just get to watch and wait.
No one in the NHL will offer him the 10 million a season Atlanta did.
He might sign to another team at around 8m and not the 10m ATL offered.
It's possible that he just REALLY didn't want to be on this team anymore. Not sure if that's come up yet but that's been on my mind as much as his possibility to going to the KHL.
50% is my estimate.

All of the reasons have been discussed at length. You'll have to go into some of the older kovy articles on the next few pages, but yes they were discussed at length.
