He's a little early. I wouldn't want to be there a day longer than necessary.

I thought Brown would be a good soccer player.. b/c diving..
USA underdog? if you call a team that's FIFA ranked at 14th in the world (out of 202 teams).. they are ranked higher than Mexico who are at 17th.

Also, I don't like the thought of hordes of orange polonaises going on safari disturbing all the wildlife.

But if you're rooting for Germany we'll argue about other things
(just kidding but the Netherlands - Germany is a huge rivalry in soccer. At least we can say Louis van Gaal trained them very well at Bayern Munchen )

The FIFA rankings are a joke. Mexico should be top ten right now easily, and I'm saying that as a USA fan who hates the Mexican national soccer team.

He loves to travel, and he's been all over the place. He was just there for Mexico's opening game and their second one after that I think.

Agreed on the rankings being a joke but top ten? Even as an US fan I still like quite a few Mexican players due to my Football Manager playing and I'd still only say 11-13. Even though they just beat Chile 1-0 in Mexico City I'd still rate them slightly higher. I'd move #16 Uruguay, #17 Mexico and #18 Chile all up to 11, 12 and 13 and move Russia, Egypt and either US or Greece down. 9-25 are all pretty equal teams anyways.

Don't count Slovenia out that quick. They're a very tough team to play against, just ask the Russian team.

I think it'd be more entertaining if they played soccer with a football instead of the round soccer ball. Hey, but that's just me.

The only time I REALLY get into soccer is when Colombia plays (except for WC finals or something). However, they haven't made the World Cup in yyyyears =/

I made this group for the soccer board a little bit ago, I will also post it here. It's a pick'em game for the World Cup on ESPN. Group is called HFBoards, of course. You can change your picks up until each game time. One each round starts, you can make picks for that round. Just make sure you remember to hit submit picks after making your choices, I forgot to do so the first time and my picks vanished. Registering for their website is easy.

Only one more day!

I'm not a fan of soccer but the World Cup is just such an event I can't help but to get excited. It kills me that Sweden didn't qualify though.

I believe it was mentioned that we play england in our first game. Does anyone know who's favored to win? Anyone know the odds of USA winning the cup?

Cool, thanks.

It looks like a tough first game matchup for both the US and the UK.

I watch zero soccer except for every 4 years.

I REALLY look forward to the World Cup. I'll be up at 6am to watch the opener.

It is THE most prestigious sports tournament in the world.
