Replacing Regier and Ruff with Yzerman and Dineen would have made for an interesting offseason.

About as likely as getting struck by lightning at a championship parade in downtown Buffalo though.

As long as they're getting playoff revenue (or close enough to make excuses), we won't see any involuntary changes, in the front office or behind the bench.

Not a surprise.

good for Dino.

Now lets see how they handle Portland if they do lose him. Im pretty confident in saying I would think Dino will take Weinrich with him..

if thats the case, do Patrick or McCutcheon go down there, knowing that kevyn Adams could step into the staff or Teppo Numminen. or do they make a play for Cunneyworth either to join Ruffs staff or go to Portland

Bummer. If rumors are true, good luck to the guy.

McCutcheon coached in the A with Rochester before Cunneyworth, so I doubt he would want to go back to the A. I'd think Patrick, Adams, and Weinrich might be the leading candidates if I had to guess. Cunneyworth might be a wild card.

Teppo is an interesting possibility at the NHL level if Patrick jumps down. Replace a blue-liner with a blue-liner on the staff.

They need someone who has some grasp of offensive hockey from a forwards' perspective. I'd rather they break in someone from junior or the AHL who hasn't had NHL assistant coaching tenure yet rather than recycling more people who are both ex-Sabres and who don't think the game any differently than Ruff-McCutcheon already do.

There were rumors that some teams would be interested in him for a NHL job, so I doubt he'd leave his situation in Windsor for an AHL job.

Well if Dineen ended up as their coach he would be familiar with our prospects, that's for sure.

Especially when he's not just coach in Windsor. He and Rychel call the shots together -- Team President and Heach Coach for Bob and Vice President and General Manager for Warren -- so it's not like he's going to be falling over himself to go to the AHL.

It'll be interesting to see who of Columbus or Tampa make him a better offer. Tampa would clearly be a more interesting situation, with more established talent and a GM he's already close with in Yzerman.

To my knowledge Dineen has yet to interview for the job, or that Tampa Bay has even asked for permission yet?

It might be a bit early to hand him the job in TB.... A lot of this is conjecture based on something that was written in Columbus. My gut tells me he takes the job in Columbus.

Interesting to note that the Jackets did the second interviews with him and Arneil but finally had a chance to do a primary interview with Guy Bouchard just this week. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

i think a lot of the rumering has to do with Yzerman and Dineen's history together. They came up in the hockey world together and remain close friends today.

cannot interview an existing coach who's team is still playing as Bouchard's was as late as last week, Chain, had Hamilton won tht gm 7 it's likely Bouchard would've been eliminated from consideration.

would you want tampering charges levied if you didn't get permission, Chain, think about it, tht's why there's a gentlemen's agreement that u ask permission and if it's not granted, then what?

Getting permission is part and parcel of the wait for Bouchard's interview in C'bus.

I know where Dineen DEFINITELY was today! East Hartford, CT as he was the special guest of honor for Howard Baldwin's attempt at bringing NHL hockey back to the area by having a 10-day long period of mixed outdoor hockey (from high school to college to pro games) at Rentschler Field, UConn's football stadium. Apparently the outdoor stuff is getting to be way too trendy, but it's been an overall success with the NHL. Time will tell if Connecticutians deserve to have another team in the area based on the turnout from this thing. Time and area for myself permitting, I hope to be there for a couple games.

Oh yeah, sorry if this is too off-topic. I know a couple people who might appreciate this though.
