They wouldn't won the Cup if they had Price/Halak in net this year while Carter was a non-factor (even tho he might be hurt).

Yeah, I hear ya.

All the credit to Leighton for taking his team as far as he did, but, I (and others)
predicted (both on this board and to some friends) that the Hawks would be able to expose him as a WAIVER goalie.....like on the winner tonight.

The reason Leighton looked ALL WORLD agaist the HABS - can go back to the hard facts that the HABS (as remarkable as their playoff run was - and it was indeed remarkable) scored the least goals 5 on 5 in the entire NHL regular season!

Even Flyers fans agree that the team in front of Leighton made him look way better than he really was.

Just take a peek at the Flyers board.

The habs shut the habs out for 3 games. Leighton had those games easy.

His performance must not only be mesured by point-production. The guy won countless faceoffs, he played in all situations with intensity and leadership and I'm pretty sure he wasn't 100%.

He deserves it. Keith would have been my second choice.

I really think Carter is vastly overrated and would probably be better on the wing anyways. The guy can't pass to save his life and his goal scoring is vastly overrated after his fluky ass 2009 season.

If I hear another person claim Toews is a better player then Crosby/Ovechkin/Malkin/Backstrom, I might go insane seriously, the kid produce less offensive then Plekanec - he just happens to be clutch and not a little girl.

He is still worth more than Price or Halak at this point... A proven scorer with size and speed, who can play center or wing. Don't forget he has been playing injured in the Playoffs.

Agreed, not to discredit Halak and his accomplishments but you can ask the Penguins and Capitals how that feels as well.

He's still not that good. Basically a 30 goal/50 point player. He also only weighs 200 pounds so its not like he's a physical force out there. Carter is the exact opposite of what we need right now. Well, not the last, but if he's our game breaker we're in for a world of hurt.

chicago finally figured out the mystery that was leighton.

shoot.

Actually this is probably what Holmgren likes. He will keep the tradition and sign Leighton to a 4 year 20 mil dollar deal.

"we like you alot Mike. And just like the Flyers goalies before you, you will let us down when it counts the most. Welcome"

I agree on Carter. Good player but take him from Philly to a less physical team like us and he struggles. He'd be better than Andrei K. but he's not physical enough for his size and I would much rather have a guy like Richards or Gagne. Now, they also have young guys who can become better than Carter but I doubt Giroux gets to Carter's level so I'm going with Van Riemsdyk as the guy I'd most want to target. I wouldn't mind a d-man to help us with our piss poor offensive back end (Markov + Subban and that's it, since Bergy is hopeless everywhere but on the PP and is likely not coming back... god I hope). Timmonen or Carle would be enticing but this is all hypothetical. In essence, I don't think Carter's the answer. He's like Ryan Malone was for the Penguins but more offensive and less physical.

Toews won the Conn Smythe for one single series... he was horrible in the Finals...

It's one of the weakest CS winner ever... don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but they obviously didn't have anyone else to give it to...

I beg to differ. And your argument is illogical. Carter would not have been on the team, who you oddly say made no diff anyway, and Halak would have made as huge difference.

Flyers let in many goals in the final, 3rd highest scoring final ever. Leighton was crap.

If Flyers had done Halak for Carter, I think they would have been very very close to the cup.

congrats to the Hawks. It is their year and it's about time.
As for the flyers and the flyer fans I am glad your 1st LOOSER.
I heard boo's after the game as the Hawks were celebrating, Glad Briere did not win a cup after he snubbed the habs at his contract time. Glad Pronger finally got his long overdue penalties as the refs finally called an even game. It's nice to see crime does not pay.
Now I am seeing many ( not all ) but still many flyer fans blame Leighton, what a bunch of idiots they are. Leighton played over his head to get you to the final, he only gets .600k per year as a backup goalie and you are blaming HIM?

I'm just glad Briere doesn't win the Cup. I'm still pissed at how he played the habs as a ufa.

I don't even hate Pronger like most do, but all the pundits slobbering all over him for his 'brilliant strategy' of stealing game pucks to deflect attention made me roll my eyes. Pronger could **** in Pierre McGuire's coffee and he'd say he was displaying excellent poise.

Not everything a player does is a cold, calculated move by a brilliant hockey mind. Sometimes people are just idiots.
