Since everyone and their moms in the Trade Proposals feels we need "home grown" talent, I figured we should take over USA Hockey and see what we could do. So could we make a team that fits one of these categories and compete with the other National teams?
- Born in the State
- Played in the State at the developmental level for more than a year (so yea...technically Crosby qualifies)
Some names of Minnesota Born:
Langenbrunner
Matt Cullen
Jason Blake
Leopold
Parise
Martin
Backes
Byfuglien
Tom Gilbert
Wheeler
Okposo
Erik Johnson
Goligoski
GM:
Burke
HC:
Richards (less I'm missing someone which I'm sure I am)
Of course we know the Malone's, Kessel's, and Vanek's are all qualified for this as well. Do we even have anyone in goal

You forgot Oshie on your list. Then add Toews to the list as well.

That'd be the biggest issue. We'd probably have to go with one of the kids to be drafted this season. Although, Alex Stalock who's in the Sharks system is apparently pretty coveted. He played for South St. Paul and then went on to UMD. To be completely honest, though, I'm not the biggest fan of his.
Andy Murray would be a better coach than Todd Richards.
I just came with whatever was on the top of my head for coaching at least. But Richards as AC wouldn't be too bad either though. But to say we couldn't compete is a little questioning considering who we technically would have.

Why is it our state cannot make a good goalie???!?!

He would of been nice to have at the Olympics that is for sure. Then again, I'm not sure I could really find anything wrong with that team to begin with. I actually was happy Drury was on it, and the old guys were huge reasons we won games.

I don't know, but that's a discussion question for another day.
Anyways, if there was a good goalie from Minnesota the team would be able to put up a respectable showing but would have trouble against the Russia, Canada and the (rest of the) USA.

We know that the only real competition would come from Team Michigan and Team Massachusetts. I wouldn't include Shattuck or guys like Vanek. Otherwise Michigan would kick butt with all the U-## programs.
