Flyers Unhappy with JVR?

Take it with a grain of salt considering the source, but last night on Sports Final Howard Eskin said the Flyers may move JVR because they are unhappy with him and his style of play.

Grain of salt taken.

I don't believe this for a second.

Eskin never has any idea what he's talking about. He's an idiot.

I doubt JVR gets traded. More like they'll hire him a nutritionist and a personal trainer and make him bust his ass this summer.

In related news Ike Reese said the flyers are looking to move Giroux for someone with better hands.

The Flyers knew exactly what kind of player they were getting when they drafted JVR. Nobody ever said he was going to play like Lindros.

Exactly. Regardless, I can't wait to see JVR in his prime.

Is Pavel Bure a Flyer yet? That was an Eskin doozy from back in the day.

This is a guy who once claimed that the Flyers didn't fire (at the time they hadn't) Roger Nielson because he reported that they would.

Eskin is not tapped into the Flyers organization at all.

would it really be shocking though if they did trade him? Not to me. How can you be disappointed in a guy you expected to lay in the ahl but made your team instead?

It would to me and I'd be pissed.

The 2nd reason is:

There are a lot of stupid people listening to AM radio. Both of them are windbag idiots who would talk all day about crap even if they didn't have radio jobs. Neither considers hockey a legitimate sport. They'd rather talk about Drexel basketball or Temple football.

Are you sure he did say that he thinks they may move him because he feels he doesn't fit in with the Flyers style of play?

Eskin reporting anything about hockey is beyond him. Even for Eskin.

But just in case it is (which it isn't), that's uh, something you should have thought about when you had the 2nd pick in the draft. The Flyers knew from the start that JVR was going to play in college for at least two years.

howard eskin will say anything to get people to talk about him or to sound like he knows what he's talking about. Howard eskin will say one thing, someone will call in to agree with him, and eskin will argue with that person for agreeing with him. He's a jackass who likes to sound knowledgable and aims to condescend whenever he can.

why would the flyers trade a young, cheap player that they don't have to sign for another couple years? it makes no sense, especially when there are more expensive players we can be getting rid of in order to fill holes. JVR won't be moved, as there is no need to move him. He did well this season, espcially for a player coming right from college hockey.

Yup he said they were unhappy with his style of play and his lack of hitting.

I agree Eskin isn't a credible hockey source, but it's not impossible that he's heard something so I am throwing it out there.

Well I am not sure this latest claim has anything to do about college, but they did not know he was going to go for 2 years. He was quoted as saying he'd take it on a year by year basis.

Personally I would not be shocked to see him traded, but I don't think they are just going to give up on him after 1 year. I think they'd move him if they could get a young player with similar upside in return.

The same guy who nobody in the organization believed would make the team this year? Don't think so.

C'mon man, you could've gotten your own avatar. That and the fact that your user title is the old JVR-pirate thing I had at the start of the season sort of creeps me out.

I think Eskin is stuck last year where everyone freaked out when JVR didn't go to the AHL.

Give up on him? The guy had a nice rookie season. He might not be hell-on-skates like some people expected, but the kid is, at worst, a promising rookie. If they do trade JVR I would bet that it won't be about who they're getting rid of as much as who they're bringing in.
