Eric Belanger interested in joining habs?

Rumor from hendrickshockey.com

If washington doesn't resign Eric Belanger he could be interested in joing the Habs

I'd imagine if Washington doesn't re-sign Belanger, he could theoretically be interested in joining any team.

Not to jump on you as an individual, but these types of rumours are ... well, not really rumours. Players could be interested in any team.

If moore is too expensive, I think he could be a decent option, though I'd prefer Malhotra.

Not really a rumour, as he said on CKAC after the Caps lost that he would consider Montreal seriously if they make him a fair offer.

Still, I'd keep Moore. But he's a good plan-B

I hope so! Always loved Belanger. Plus he's French, amirite?

I'd be interested in him too if we can't keep Moore. I would rather have Moore, but Belanger would be a good pickup. I don't feel like looking it up, but I believe he's a great faceoff man, which is always a key but underrated attribute.

having Belanger as either a pivot center on the 3rd line with moore, or a 4th line center is pretty awesome. However we'd have to move Hamrlik if we want to bolster him he wants 2-2.5 easy.

If Moore wants too much money and we can't keep him I wouldn't mind signing Belanger

My number one choice for 3rd line center , plus I think Moore will ask for too much like he did last year

I'm your huckleberry... he has 52% over the '08/09 season with the Wild, almost 58% last year before going to Washington (52% post trade deadline), and then almost 67% against Montreal in the playoffs.

Thanks for looking it up. Confirms what I remembered, he is a great faceoff man, which would be a great addition to the team.

Well, he was great against the Habs (don't think anyone is surprised or impressed there), but has been good to really good over most of his recent career.

You can have all the third and fourth line faceoff guys you want, it won't put a dent in the larger issue: Our top two take the most faceoffs and have to be better. Seems a bit late to teach Gomez that trick, so hopefully Plekanec improves if he returns, or whoever we put in his place is really strong on them.

We don't need an other third line player.

If we don't resign moore we do. He changed the whole dynamic when he arrived.

For me choices would be:
1)Belanger
2)Moore
3)Malhotra

I wouldn't mind, I personally think he could fill in 2nd line duty for a season or two if we can't re-sign Plekanec. ( No he couldn't replace Plekanec, I'm not saying so... Who could anyhow? )

We already have Moore. Plus i'm always favoring going with grit on the third and fourth lines.

I'm not sure that Belanger wants to play in Montreal, but maybe he changed his mind. If montreal makes a good offer, he might sign. He will look around 1M$ - 1,5M$ per year.

he said he was interested on TVA's L'esprit sportif (local show here), but his first goal is to stay with the Caps.
