Does this mean he doesn't collect his buyout?

I don't think anything affects the buyout payment. Zhit was under contract with the Thrash and as such he was due his salary for the upcoming season. Per the CBA rules, he gets bought out which terminates the contract for a specified amount. He may well have already received payment[s] for all I know.

Glad he found work somewhere. Just too bad he was part of the problem here last year.

I's like to know what the heck "the glass rod of failures" is. Maybe the Russian equivalent to the waiver wire/buyout. If so, the NHL totally needs to adopt that terminology. Telling a player "you're heading to the glass rod of failures with your play" is a hell of a lot scarier than "you're playing like you want to be waived".

Glass rods certainly do seem to be some kind of queueing or sorting mechanism.

Glass Rod of Failures has soo much potential here people... For example... Let's say Slater starts sucking and gets benched in favor of someone like Sterling... Could Slater's healthy Scratch be referred to as the Glass Rod of Failures?

THe glass rod of failures is the waiver wire. I assume whatever russian term for 'wire' is being translated as glass rod. But what's cool is that they are "advanced on the glass rod of failures."

It almost sounds like a medieval torture device.

I think this year will be the inaugural year here in Blueland for executing a full scale use for this term. And if anyone asks, link them to this thread.

Yo LetNoneIn, considering the last few posts before this one, maybe you can go up to your original post and edit bold the Glass Rod of Failures in your original post??

I have "TB Bolts = The Glass Rod of Failures" in my signature over on the team board with a link to this thread. So if someone cruises over they will see it right away in your first post.

What do you think? Let's put the phrase into hockey immortality and if it's connected to the Bolts, so much the better!

There is no point in bumping a thread that is two years old. If you want to reference and link to it fine. But Do not bump two year old threads.
