OK nice.

Why is it Sather can announce this and is mum on the Wisconsin boys?

Because Newbury is already pro?

I hope his nickname isnt Newb.

i wanted kovalchuk or newbury although not everyone here thought it was worth the price just for a rental. Good thing we locked up newbury longterm.

28 years old and no chance to play in the NHL... Next... Not with the over abundance of bottom six players on this team, at least.

Kris is probably targeted for the AHL but he does have some NHL experience and he's a tough, gritty guy who sticks up for his teammates even if he's not that big. A little bit in the George McPhee mold. It's not a bad signing. He's a character guy. Not everyone of our 50 contracts are going to be sure fire NHL'ers.

he is a waste. Owens is a legit prospect and was traded because the Pack had no centers down the stretch. Not to be a wise guy but he is no where near a Mcphee.

Like him or not, this kid is as tough as nails. Read somewhere that Brian Burke loved the way Kris played.

I like the McPhee analogy. I look at him as a less skilled Patrick Kaleta type.

Good signing IMO. Every organization needs depth, even in the AHL.

no way in hell is he like Mcphee. Just cause he is short and fights doesn't mean he is like someone.

omg no way he would've signed this cheap normally. The only logical explanation is that Bettman must feel for us. The fix is in@@@

Hey atleast I heard of him before we signed him. This guy seems like a long shot to even open and close the gate for the real players. Not sure why he gets an NHL contract and not an AHL one if he's going to HDF and staying there.

Awesome. That means we are now out of the Kovalchuk run right? I hear he is a scorer who doesn't need a play making center?? What the hell is a salary cap anyways right!? right?!?! I mean its not like we also got other guys to resign right?! Signing of the off-season. Eat your heart out NHL!!!

Its good AHL depth guys. He's like Locke

he made it on the Red Wings this last year for a few games. Its not like Owens was going to do anything on the depth charts anyway

Good re-signing imo. Was good in Hartford. I like his playing style.

He was good in Hartford in his time there. With PA and Locke most likely gone they need veteran leadership down there. I don't expect him to be the only UFA they bring in for down there.

I was listening to Mouth's radio show and Mitch Beck was a guest a few months ago. He raved about the Wiese - Byers - Newbury line and actually said that this should be the Rangers NHL 4th line. Now with the abundance of 3rd and 4th liners that the Rangers roster, that isn't likely.
