Will he play in Sweden or will Armstrong bring him over to Peoria?

IMO, 1 more year in Sweden then at least 1 full year in Peoria.

Doug Armstrong likes getting his Euro's to NA to play in the AHL (See Nik Grossman and Loui Eriksson).

I wouldn't be to surprised.

He grew a ridiculous amount this year. Another year in Sweden is probable, but if he's ready for Peoria, then he's ready. He has the talent and now he also very likely has the confidence.

I think it'd be nice actually be able to DRIVE and go see him play.
I think he's ready. But we'll see what B has to say about it.

He's got a year left on his SEL contract. My guess is the Blues simply signed him a year earlier than they were required to simply to get it out of the way. Eller, Bergy & Junland were all signed to contracts a year before the Blues needed to sign them and all 3 then played one more year in Sweden before coming over. I'm not expecting to see Rundblad in N.A. until the 2011-12 season...and I don't have a problem with that. I think another year in the SEL would likely be just as good if not better for him at age 19 as playing in the AHL.

He had plans to play in The SEL again this season. The signing was mainly to avoid having a dangerously small time to sign him after this season-or lose him altogether.

I'd love to see him come to St. Louis' camp this summer, and then go to Peoria to play 2010-11. But, I doubt that that will happen.

Thanks for the link, but it really doesn't help any of us who can't read Swedish...

Also, I'm told that Aftonbladet is sort of the Swedish equivalent of "The National Enquirer," meaning it's kind of a sensationalist tabloid. My understanding is that Rundblad is here in St. Louis training now, and he probably wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't going to be staying here, no?

It's not uncommon for Euros to come over here to meet & train with the team's staff/trainers and then head home for the season, is it? JR sounds pretty confident Rundblad is playing in Sweden next year, which I'm taking to mean he's had it confirmed by someone.

It might also be some kind of team summer training/meetup thing as Perron just tweeted that he is flying to St. Louis for training.

Rundblad may well be going back to Sweden to play another year in the SEL, which would not necessarily be a bad place for him.

IIRC, the SEL season starts at about the same time as the NHL training camps... so if Rundblad is present at the Blues' main training camp, that would probably be a sign that he's going to be in North America this year. If he's not, then you can safely say he's playing in Skelleftea again this year.

The Blues would be remiss if Rundblad does come over for camp and they did not strongly encourage him to go to Peoria, however...

Yes, that WOULD be a sign that he'd be staying in n.A. However, I believe he's in St. Louis just to work with Nelson Ayotte on strength training. I'll be surprised if he ends up in Peoria this season. I see him coming in 2011-12, and playing all that season in The AHL. He's got a lot to learn about defensive positioning, reacting to moves of the faster forwards, and using his body more to impede forwards in his zone. He won't be ready for The NHL after one more season in The SEL.

I'm with you guys. I love watching The Blues get better. It's frustrating that we fans have not experienced what is going on in Chicago right now.

But if Rundblad wants to go back then that's fine. He's still a baby, but it doesn't seem like he's the homesick type. He'll get to STL when he gets there.

I'll guess that Rundblad will make his way over to Peoria for the 2011-2012 AHL season AND that he'll play in exactly one (1) game for St. Louis. In other words, a similar track as Junland. Hopefully he sticks it out because he may need two full seasons or at least one and a half seasons in The AHL.

There's a quote from the GM of Skellefteć in there. Says Rundblad is staying in Sweden.

It's also on the team's official website.

I've been talking to David, his English is still suspect so our interview is really short, but I look to have that up in the next week or so.

BREAKING NEWS:

David Rundblad caught in earthquake
Could hardly watch TV with his mom

EDIT:
Looks like Google Translate doesn't like that page, so here's the story for those who can't read this silly little thing.

Quote:
Hockey star in the middle of the earthquake

Skelleftea.

David Round Leaf, back in Skellefteć AIK, experienced the earthquake at close range.

Skellefteć AIK's stellar backup David Round Leaf was in the earthquake.

- My Mom and I sat down and watched TV when it shook. Pretty sick.

Was that a strong earthquake?

- It shakes a little in the house and in the cupboards. It was like an unbalanced washing machine has started to spin.

What were you thinking?

- At first I thought it was a motorcycle that pulled in again. I did not think so much. But then I went and read on the web.
His English is indeed a little suspect.

Obviously a literal translation of the name "Rundblad," but I think the kid has his nickname already for when he finally comes over to stay...
