Like Lisin I am willing to wait a season for two for this guy to be fully ready if he isn't now. Not lets dump MZA next offseason if he doesn't come out and have a 40 point rookie year.
I think it is pretty clear from watching Lisin this season, that he will not be an NHL player for very long. Yes, I did see some raw talent every once in a while, but he has so many deficiencies to overcome as a player. His career will most likely take place overseas.

Most people penciled Lisin into the top six because they agreed he would be useless anywhere else. He was still a pretty big question mark and

And he displayed some pretty terrible hockey instincts out there which is why a lot of people soured on him.

There was only 1 person that I know of that was really hyping Lisin. If anyone else projected him for top 6 it's probably only because we have so few options.

Lisin is still young, but he's had his chances. He just hasn't shown that he can produce at any level. But I'm not one of those people who think we should just let him go. That's poor asset management. Maybe we can trade him for a 3rd rounder (If Boyle can get a 3rd, I would think Lisin can). There's always some GM out there willing to toss the dice on a low risk/high reward type.

Lisin and MZA are just vastly different players. There's nothing wrong with having high expectations for MZA. I mean, at what point do you throw away the "but he hasn't done it in the NHL" argument? Should the isles have had low expecations for Tavares last year because he had yet to show he can play in the NHL?

Now, I'm not saying that MZA is, or will be, as good as Tavares. But MZA is a very accomplished player outside of the NHL, much more accomplished than any player we've signed in recent memory. On this team especially, he projects to be a top 6 player. If he falls short of that, so be it. It won't be the end of the world, just another failed experiment that cost us nothing.

Good signing for you guys, can't wait to see how it turns out.

Also can't wait to see what they do with this in the Rangers font.

Maybe a bit Jarrod Saltalamacchia-esque?

Lets not compare our new player to the headcase that can't throw the ball back to the pitcher.

Short on? We don't have one.

Now little Aasen is xxxxxx by the Norwegian media when he said he's kind of scared of big NY. They said someone better put him on a leash and hold his hand or he'll disappear in downtown Manhattan

Not sure if anyone posted this or not:

Gordie Clark Comments on MZA:

Quote:
“Very, very talented kid. We saw him do the same thing last year in Switzerland. I went over with Anders Hedberg and saw him do his thing over there, and he duplicated it again this year. Jim Schoenfeld and Glen Sather were able to come over with me, and obviously Mark Messier was with Team Canada, so we’ve had a lot of eyes watch him in the worlds and Anders watched him during the season in Modo …

“A very, very talented guy with his head and his hands. To be a guy his size … he has three very special things. His head, his hands and he’s got a great heart, because he competes. He has the things you need to be a smaller player trying to make it in the National Hockey League.”

First off I'd like to introduce myself as a secondary Rangers fan. I have been following the Rangers since the lockout and watch about 30-35 games a year in between the Hawks games and such... So don't think of me as a Hawks troll more of a Rangers fan unless they play the Hawks.

Zuccarello-Aasen (watched him in the Olympics as well as a few games of him playing in Europe). Dude has some wheels but I was discussing with the Rangers Twitter... this is like a homeless man's version of Parise who will be interesting to watch in the NHL... I don't know if I like the signing but I will reserve full judgement until I see him in real action.

Dude was awesome in the Olympics, though.

Anyone else truly concerned about his size and adapting to NHL speed/skill/physicality?

I'm just too mentally drained at work to re-cap the general sentiment about his size.... Simply put, either he'll be able to handle himself or he won't, and we won't know until he gets a chance to play... So we'll see in a few months.
