That's a bit odd.

Maybe he's in line for a head coaching position somewhere? AHL?

Did he interview for the Houston position? Maybe he's a tad bitter.

Wow. I know he didn't quite see eye to eye with Richards...we'll see what happens.

Regardless of Richards being a good or bad coach, it really was time for a change. And maybe we see another change in the next year or two...

damn that Ramsey and his insistence we at least try to play some defense on the PK!

there is no room for him in our high scoring, aggressive new system.

So we lose one Minnesotian coach who has a pretty damn good track record for one that hasn't impressed me in the least yet. Not to mention, was a hell of a dman back in the day. Wonderful.

It's sad to see him go, but in the article he pretty much says this is time for his family, whether he's lying or not, we'll know, but I can't blame him if that's what he wants to do.

Yeah as much as I love Rammer, 10 years is a hell of a long time to be a coach, especially when you only make the playoffs three times and lose in the first round twice. Not exactly like we're losing Scotty Bowman.

So the question is....who do we bring in? Wes Walz?

It'll be one of TR's or CF's buddies that's the new coach.

I can't fathom Richard's having pull with anyone at this point

Now that Rammer is available I wonder if Lucia will feel additional pressure to turn the Gophers around much sooner? I know if they struggle again this year my first call would be to Ramsey about taking over the Gopher program.

I have to believe the Gophers would pursue him. I wonder if he actually has interest though?

This was certainly something I didn't expect to hear, but, if you're not comfortable... Oh well. Good luck to Ramsey wherever he ends up.

Cue the Walz rumors. There are far worse choices we could make, but I don't get the feeling it'll happen.

He was my favorite coach from the start. Sad to see him go. Obviously there's some huge differences between the old and new regimes. Looks like both are set in their ways and that's that.

It makes sense as you usually don't retain assistants from the last coach and with the turnover of the old regime, it's clear that Fletcher and Richards drive a different ship.

That was my thought as well.

Oh and Russo blog link if a link to a WMB thread isn't sufficient.

Yeah. With Richards and Barr screwing up line changes, Ramsey was the only one that knew how to manage the D. I can only remember one major D line screw up, and that was because of Barker's broken stick.

/sigh

I don't think I like the new regime.

Hey, I was all for Laviolette. If we wanted a drastic system change that was proven to work, he was the best guy available. Would also prefer Constantine to Yeo.

Obviously nobody was going to replace Lemaire, and Mario was going to leave with him. Fletcher seems to really like young, inexperienced coaches. Not sure all the players respect them.

Fletcher likes coaches who play the style of game he wants to play, which as of right now are young coaches from his previous stops.

I just find it funny how Todd Richards, a defenseman, had everyone of his d-men pinching at every opportunity for the first 10-15 games. Yeah, it got better as the year went on, but he's still got alot to do to make a believer out of me. I don't think his leash is as long as many think.

I saw him before the Sabres/Wild game in march and he looked awfully tired and worn out then
