Edm needs a top 4 dman

We only have 3 dmen on Edm right now and we need another one to play in the top 4. What would it take from Edm to get Coburn now that he guys have Hamhuis which I am guessing will sign with your team.

Phi
Nash(prospect playing in the NCAA) plays a very good two way game. 3rd liner or 2nd line centreman.
45th pick 2010

Edm
Coburn

Your team gets cap relief plus a 2nd rounder and a good prospect.

I'd rather deal Carle at this point.

oilers have no defense and no high end defensive prospects. they are not going to draft a defenseman with the # 1 pick. colburn would be perfect for them. the have some depth in forward prospects. the oilers would need to put a package together like st louis did for halak. for the package would need to be eberle and a top defense prospect

They offer Eberle and I'm off and running. They will never do that, let alone add a top defensive prospect, which they don't have. Nothing from the Oilers interests me for Coburn.

Pretty much.

At this point, my biggest goal is to move Carle, because we all know Hamhuis is going to cost more than him.

No to Khabibulin, and why is Omark in there as a possible substitute for the 1st overall?

coburn has already turned down a 2 year deal. You know what usually happens when someone goes against the team. they get dealt at some point

That's a good point, but I don't think Coburn's rejection had much to do with Hamhuis. I think Holmgren was locked on Hamhuis regardless.

probably true but this makes it that much easier to move coburn as you added a better dman. You didnt create a hole by moving coburn if you didnt sign hamuis

If you take a look at your team, you are not looking for a player to help you right now. Nash and the 2nd would give you prospects for the future when you need them. The only thing your team needs now is a goalie for under 3mil. Leino and Giroux both have to be signed next year and if they both have a good year you are looking at about 2-3 mil for each of them.

Personally, I don't see Coburn signing for anything that makes him significantly more "value" efficient than Carle when compared to his play.

If Edmonton wants top 4 d-men Flyers must look at Smid plus a young forward or a pick for Carle.

Your on drugs if you think any team would give up that much for Carter and Coburn. We are not asking for Carter. We need a top 4 dman. You will not get a 1st rounder for either dman.

I'm assuming Smid is one of their top 4 d-men now.

You are not going to a younger dman that is a top 4 that is making less money and a foward. Smid is not on the books.

We're not really the best of trading partners, have a affordable good goalie? That's what we need right now. That or blow us out of the water with something you don't want to part with...

If you do not have affordable goaltender (Khabbi as much as I liked him in the past is just not it and the rets of your prospects are not ready to lead our playoff team in goal) and if you do not want to trade Smid that would be perfect Flyers #5 option then you can relax and hope some crazy UFA decide to surprise Edmonton fans and sign there for a year or 2.

He probably is but he is perfect #5 on our team. His size, speed and aggressive nature is what I would want on our team.

I have a lot of interest in MPS.

It would be very hard for me to say no to MPS + 2011 1st for Coburn.

Or Smid+MPS for Coburn.
