I'd be happy with either Kovalchuk, Frolov or Marleau. I don't mind Plekanec, but I like Eller on the 2nd line.

when you can have a guy like Kovalchuk it's a no brainer, but it won't happen

This is just stupid to me. How many games has he played in the playoffs? 9? I think he's averaged a PPG too. That's not enough of a sample size to judge him.

Didn't people say the same about Cam?

Plus, you have to get to the playoffs, and Kovy will deff help

We just lost the reason we were able to contend. I don't want to lose the reason we were able to make it to the playoffs also.
I just don't know if he has it in him to win. He could, but 8 mill if not more is going to be tough.
As for Price, I would of traded him for more then what we got for Halak, but now that Price is again our #1, let's have faith in the guy. If we believe it will help him believe again.

He can't do it alone obviously.. But with the team we have it's exactly what he said: it helps.

His salary would handcuff us way too much. I think their are better available assets then him.

I like kovalchuk, not for 8. Marleau solves 2 needs big center, and scoring winger.

Kovalchuk at 7(long-term even) yes...

It would but you'd have to make some tough decisions and hope certain players work out. I'd be willing to unload Hamr for a late pick...K brothers for prospects and hope to God Pouillot and Eler step up.

Kovalchuk is worth the risk. He makes everyone around him better.

Agree with me that Kovalchuk is a sniper, and then agree with me that he plays the point on PPs. We need a body for the front of the net, we need a player who can play in the corners. Sure Kovalchuk could do it, but chances are he doesn't do it often.
I follow Kovalchuk very closely in this last playoffs and guess what, he played against the big Flyers that you keep mentionning. He was the only player that could challenge the Flyers physically. He was all over the ice and sometimes, he looks like he was by himself.

Saying he didn't showed anything in the playoffs is just stupid. He was one, if not the best Devils in that series. 6 pts in 5 games is nothing to be shy about. Gomez with his 14 pts in 19 games is a freaking playoffs hero here and you consider Kovalchuk as a non-factor in the playoffs with 6 pts in 5 games.

Parise, Zajac, Martin, Elias and Broduer weren't exactly a bad bunch.

So let's say Kovalchuk at 6.533 for 15 years? hes what 27?

10-10-10-10-9-9-8-7-6-6-6-4-1-1-1

And so at 40 we can buy him out at 3 mill left for last 3 years.

Ya seems pretty psycho

Who said that I didn't think he can perform in the playoffs? I said I have no idea what his capabilities are in the playoffs, very small sample size. I would hate to dish out a lot of money for something I have no certainty behind. I didn't watch him against the flyers, but if you say he was capable of being physical against a team we have had a hard time against, then maybe he wouldn't be that bad of an idea. I just don't want his salary more then I don't want the player.

No. But that one was investigated too.

Besides being more expensive than Plekanec, Marleau is even older than Gomez. Is having two 30+ top centers a way to build for the future? As for Kovalchuk, he's a LW.

If we can get rid of Hammer, we could probably have BOTH Pleks and Marleau.

Ya but they let it pass didn't they? The crazy contract I put forward had a lot more money in the last 5 years then that one.

Go to the KHL for three years, Kovy!

That's where the big tax free money is... don't be a fool!

You can support generations of Kovalchuks

Almost 350 career NHL goals @ 27 years of age... his sniping talent is undeniable

I'd go with Marleau, I think he compliments our team better than Kovalchuk.

Cammy-Gomez-Gionta
Marleau-Eller-AKost

Marleau is going to Toronto, book it.

Kovalchuk to LA.

Plekanec is staying.

When you compare Plekanec to these players in price, he's over-rated.
He's our top scorer, but that's really not saying much since we don't have a lot of 5-5 tops scorers this season.

Eller and Kovalchuk would be great. Make it a three year contract and see what we get.
