Per Mirtle tweet:

Whiskey....Tango......Foxtrot. I did not think Arnott was tradable and I thought Dumont had more value.

This is why I'm going to morn Glennon's articles. Reading between the lines of his articles he was setting the table for an Arnott move with the articles on "Should the Preds get a new captain?"

Oh thank God. Not spectacular value, but this is good value for Arnott at this point. Can we please move Dumont now?

Poile showing a rare, pro-active nature. I suspect he has a forward he is about to acquire.....or a resigning for Hornqvist is on the horizon.

Bottom line for me is that I trust David Poile and know he has a plan for building this team. I think he's far from finished and this will all start to make sense soon...

Geez, didn't think when I woke up this morning that we'd be witnessing the re-inventing of the Nashville Predators for the 2010-2011 season happening today!!!

God I love Halischuk. Great prospect imo.

God two-way player who's a PK ace and gritty. Good skater too. While he won't pot 20g, he'll put in 10-15g while helping shut down other teams lines down.

Wanted the Oilers to get him.

Love this deal for the Preds! Not only that, but the cap space!

Sweet Jebus my Predsheet is getting a workout.

Hello 4.5 million dollars to sign people. This might mean Dumont is not on the trade block.

2nd rounder in '11 is a lower value than a pick in this years draft.

Halischuk is the #9 prospect in NJ's system per HF. RW.

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/matt_halischuk

If we go with a salary self-cap of 47 million. the Preds have 9 million under the self cap and are back under the cap floor.

Awesome. Didn't think Arnott had any value, let alone bring in a 2nd rounder. Great deal for an aging, concussed softie.

Guess he waived the NTC?

Just enough to add re-sign Grebeshkov and Hornqvist AND add a good player on top of that.

Guess so...lol. Not sure if it was you or others as well that said he wouldn't waive it but these guys will do it if they feel it's the right move for them. I think after the tongue lashing he got in the paper from Trotz about being an ok captain may have been the final dagger. Gonna miss his production up front but not going to miss his whining and lack luster effort either. When he's on, he's pretty darn good but when he's lazy he annoys the heck out of me and for a guy making what he does, he needs to be showing up every night.

This team has changed a lot in the last few hours. Amazing.

Thank god, thank god, thank god. Way to be, Poile! Halischuk is a great prospect, can't wait to see him in a Preds jersey.

Do we look back at this as addition by subtraction?

This is not addition by subtraction because Arnott still was a productive forward. Aside from this year, he was well worth his salary. However, I do think we can find a better use for his 4.5 million in salary THIS year, and I do think we needed a new captain. This was the best alternative.

I just don't think Dumont is going to waive. I had no clue about Arnott

Per Cap Geek. Including Spaling.

38,891,000. with 17 contracts. WELLWELLWELL below cap floor.

Boyd, Hornqvist, Franson, Parent, Grebs as RFAs.

If Dumont is traded, jesus, I might as well delete my predsheet right now.

Good trade. I loved Arnott from 06-09 but last season really made me think that his time had run out here. Lazy, relatively poor production. And as said before we get 4.5 mil to spend on whatever else we need and get a new, much needed, captain in the process.

I tip my hat to you, Poile.

Exactly, his production (and also his size vs. larger centers around the league defensively) will have to be replaced, but this was the best alternative given the circumstances...

Great now HF is speculating a Nashville getting Vinny LeCavlier....

Unless the ownership were willing to spend they couldn't get him.

I still say Nashville-Chicago trade is coming.

Im gonna miss Arnott, he was great player and a good leader. But it is time for a change. Weber is most likely gonna get the C. Expect Poile to do more work, were gonna be watching a completley different team next season.

OK - I'm on Arnie's a$$ as much as anyone, but surely not addition by subtraction. Sure, we didn't see the leadership outta' him we all want from the guy wearing the C, but he's been pretty productive even if he's soft, and really, pretty much worth his cash except maybe this year.

Since we're not resigning Hammer, be interesting to see where this cash is gonna' be used. Still not sure I want to see Grebs back - spose if he's really a PP wiz it'd be good - but I like our kids on D and I'm ready to see them get a chance to play.
