Damn Flyers. This would make them pretty damn difficult to beat.

They still need to address their glaring weakness. Goalie.

Debatable. Both Finals goalies were questionable. It's just getting hot goaltending that counts.

But with proper coaching the Flyers will always have either one or two of Pronger, Timonen, Coburn or Hamhuis on the ice at all times. That is incredible.

I wouldn't be surprised if they bring back Emery for cheap or even get Turco. Now this is a team that has a strong chance to win a Cup and a player could take a pay cut for that opportunity, especially an older one like Turco.

Teams in the East are going to re-work their teams too, especially ones like Washington and Pittsburgh.

Emery looks to be done, career threatening injury.

Turco couldn't win the big one in Dallas with some really good teams there, being older I can't see him being better or making the Flyers better.

I guess we can debate how good they are when the summer is over. Right now though, they have the exact same team but with Hamhuis, so it looks good (granted he isn't signed yet).

Michael Leighton shut us out 3 times. I think they just need an "OK" goalie and they'll be fine.

I love how Philly always fills whatever needs they can, and don't play around. They are a pain in the ass to play against, tough and still mobile. Take notes Habs management, you have no idea what team you are trying to build, and it shows.

That's the difference between pro-active and reactionary management. Habs are never pro-active. They only make moves when their hand is forced (injury or trade demand). I miss Serge. Not all of his trades were great, but at least he had the balls to make a move that could make the team better.

Philly probably would have won a few championships (at least two) in the last 15 years if they had a strong goalie on their roster. I find it interesting that the goalie position continues to be lower on their priority list.

This team has had goalie issues since hextall left the first time, and it seems like they are going to try and go for the "hole plugger" instead of a long term solution again.

I like how this is a Habs hate thread now, you know there is another 27 teams that would have liked a Hamhuis in the lineup and didn't get him today. Seriously, shut up.

I suppose trading Halak for Eller was not "pro-active" and is "reactive"?

Gauthier went and got the best return on a goalie that's been seen in quite some time, or atleast it has the potential to be...

I just hope we're not stuck with another year of Hamrlik, because he is not worth 1/2 his salary.

To some people, their team can do no wrong. Montreal management over the last number of years have not been proactive. Like, if that upsets you then I don't know what to tell you other than "get over it"

Last summer's overhaul was not being proactive?

Why not Koivu, kovalev, komisarek, TK...

Man, it was clearly proactive move, don't try to pass it off as it wasn't. It just makes you look retarded lol. It was one of the biggest overhauls in history and after the canadiens 100th year no less!

You clearly have no idea what your talking about.

Gainey completely rebuilding the team on the fly over the summer was not pro-active?

Gauthier going out and addressing a need in acquiring Moore was not pro-active?

I don't know what Montreal could have given up that equals Ryan Parent, a prospect that obviously Nashville is pretty familiar with and must hold in high regard which is what I think makes this deal go through.

There is still some interesting defensive options out there including: Volchenkov, Martin, Z.Michalek. There may be other avenues available via trade as well.

Not sure what it would take to pry Martin away from the Devils to get his rights, but I imagine Gomez & Gionta could go quite a ways in convincing him to come play with them. I really see him coming here.
