Please Settle This Bet....

I would appreciate if you all could settle this bet please. The other day my gf and I were discussing the finer points of "New Jersey Devil" hockey. She loves it, I hate it.

Anyways, the bet boils down to this:

Assuming the NHL was in operation and rosters were basically unchanged, who would be the better team right now, San Jose or New Jersey?

Thanks

A moot discussion, as watching New Jersey is akin to watching red and black paint dry.

Good call, I have an appreciation for their discipline to keep it so boring (it can't be easy charging so much for a ticket and delivering a slow no excitement game). A team with their skills could be so exciting to watch. Oh well it is winning them cups so they are sticking to it. I would say that New Jersey would be ahead in the standings, but it would be close, just because San Jose has to play in a harder conference.

Rigs.

I disagree...

As for NJ vs. SJ....There are a lot of factors in the comparison.

Does Stevens come back? Are you counting Ricci and Brown and Harvey and Damphousse moving on?

Ya, as a guess I'd pick N.J. But it's a close call.

Personally, I like S.J.s goaltending better, and they've got a lot of young players that should get better, but I suspect that they will miss Damphousse and Ricci quite a bit.

Assuming....

Thanks for the responses. I am assuming that those Free Agents already signed elsewhere have left. So basically whatever is left of the roster plus any new signees.

Thanks again. And on a side note, you are all making me look bad.

That's okay. This way, you'll get some.

IIRC Harvey already signed with a really good team for the 2004/05 season but just a 1 year deal.

Very close. They'd be within 5 points of each other IMO.
