I don't think it would be a negative as MORE Québec players would get exposure.

Also for some fans, like me.. who feel no attachment to Canada, it would give us a team to cheer for!

I totally understand the point of view of those who prefer to keep their team Canada though.. but for me, i'd rather have a team to cheer for who won't win, but might surprise a couple of times (remember, Slovakia has surprised in the past), than a team who wins all the time but to whom i have no attachment to.

Most years, there's only like 1 Québecer on the Canadian team anyways.

I think it'd be great for Québec to have their own team.

I just hope you know you really can't be part of hockey canada yet have your own teams. You would have to fund it on your own and likely pull out 100% of hockey canada.

as long as Quebec isn't a country, no point of doing that.

if IHF think canada is too strong for the competition, you could split them into 2 or 3 teams.

2 teams *drafting* from all around the country could be a solution.

First the quebec team would have to start a lower division and make there wya up.Second who would fund this team aslo i would nto be to sure they could compete for 4th or 5th if they move up.

How Team Québec would perform would depend on the year. On some years the talent is higher and they would be very competitive, and on some other years they'd be lower. Kinda like other countries where the depth is not that of bigger teams like Canada, Sweden, Russia and the US.

He was actually born in Arizona and grew up in Bathurst.. he has dual citizenship I believe and has only lived in QC for a year and a half since being drafted to the Q.. either way he could play for canada or US but not team Quebec if there were to be one. He is an unbelievable player for the next 2 WJC so hopefully he plays for Canada

Do people actually not realize that Stephen Harper calling Quebec a "nation" was nothing but a grab for votes?
Quebec is a nation in title only. It's still part of Canada, and for the sake of us all, it better stay that way.

I'd like to have Team Québec, but Canadians are not confident enough, so they feel like they have to belittle Québec. I understand, they are building a new and fresh country, they are trying to pimp their nationalism and to diffirentiate themselves from the US, which are awfully similar. So I'm not counting on Team Québec. And I'm not really mad at all the reactions from people who don't understand our society, history, culture and resonance.

But Lake Meech Part II is coming up to a newspaper near you, and considering Canada's inaptitude to compromise and Québec's need of autonomy, I think it's going to fail and lead to the referendum Part III, which hopefully we will win. Third time's the charm, you guys say that, in english.

Then we'll have Team Québec to cheer for

The way things are going, a Quebec junior team wouldn't even play in the top division.
