"I have to stop going on the internet," - Tyler Seguin

I thought this article should be brought up and deserves its own thread, in the event someone from the organization comes across it.

This was after Hall's Windsor team swept Seguin's Plymouth's squad.

Does it not seem to anyone Seguin is more concerned with scoring races than winning hockey games? He was quoted as saying his major goal for the year was winning the scoring race, after he won the OHL player of year award.

Quote:
A frustrated Seguin admitted the hype of the showdown between the projected top two picks wore on him.

"I have to stop going on the internet," he said following Monday's 5-0 loss. "I thought I played good (in Game 2 on Saturday), you know - (but) no results. But in the end, all the media is just like, 'Hall wins, Seguin loses.'"

Meanwhile, Hall is the polar opposite:

Quote:
Hall picked up two assists in Monday's win and now has three goals and three helpers in the series. The Windsor Spitfires forward simply looks much more at ease than his counterpart and has been one of his team's best players in the playoffs.

Unlike his rival, who is one year his junior, Hall chooses not to satisfy his curiosity by delving into the heated debate online.

"I don't really have enough time to go on the computer and search 'Taylor vs. Tyler,'" he said. "You can't get too wrapped up in all that stuff."
Here is Seguin complaining again. The NHL doesn't get easier, son.

Quote:
"I'm trying to adjust, but every time I just touch it, I have a guy on me," Seguin said.

Although Timmins can't say what Seguin had for dinner, he doesn't exactly need to look at the scoreboard to realize he's frustrating the young star.

"When he's coming off the bench and on the bench, you can see (it on) his face," Timmins said. "He's always looking down and kind of just got that angry look on his face that he's just kind of defeated out there. If we just keep going like we are, hopefully he just keeps getting more pressured.
These quotes are more telling than witty prepared answers at the combines - they should raise doubt whether he can not only handle being the number one pick (consistently being compared to Hall), but whether he can handle adversity in hockey rabid Edmonton.

If the Oilers select Seguin, I would abhor the gross injustice.

Hall is a 100% sure thing and Seguin is garbage. I think we have that figured out by now. As a matter of fact if Seguin fell to the 1st pick of the 2nd round the Oilers should indeed pass.

- He has a bad attitude.
- Talks about winning when he shouldn't.
- Doesn't talk about winning when he should.
- Can't lead a team to the mem cup.
- Can't be the mvp of the mem cup.
- Scores too much so he is a puck hog with too much ice time.
- Gets too many assists so he is not a sniper.
- Has tatts.
- Didn't make his team better.
- Can't play defense.
- Is soft and never goes to the tough places.
- Didn't make the world junior team.
- Got dominated in the Hall Seguin showdown.

As we have all read about ad nauseum, these kids have been poked, prodded physically and mentally tested, observed, and speculated upon by Oiler management and the whole league for what seems like forever. They have both met personally numerous times in formal and informal circumstances with Oiler management and even its ownership.

They are well beyond a few selectively chosen throw away quotes without context placed on a message board. I don't know any 17 year old kid (and grown adult) who have been through this much scrutiny and analysis.

Sorry, but this seems to be a wasted thread when there have been like a zillion ongoing like it and past on this board. It could have been posted in one of the current live ones, imo. But at least it is on subject for this Board, and at times that is an achievement. Nothing new here... just that your bias is showing.

You forgot the well-documented incident when he kicked that puppy...

Nobody is saying that, smart aleck.

Merely pointing out some flaws in Seguin. There is less doubt/risk with Hall based on the evidence provided to date.

That wasn't his point. His point is that Seguin doesn't care about winning as much as Hall does. Seguin wants more individual titles.

Yeah, this anti-Seguin sentiment is getting a little out of hand

Good point. I do not think this needs it's own thread right now. Take the discussion to the other thread. Thanks.
