"What I like about Jarome is when you talk to him, he looks you in the eye," said Babcock, speaking to Calgary media at the Edge School in Springbank on Friday morning. "Heís a manís man in that heís going back into that room and delivering whatever the coach wants. Heís a team guy. Heís putting it on the line each and every night. He loves being a Flame and heís embraced the people in Calgary.
Do you know how good 30 (goals are) in the league?" he asked. "Jaromeís the captain. So, who do you criticize? You criticize the GM, you criticize the coach, you criticize the captain, you criticize the goaltender ó thatís what you do. To me, heís a phenomenal player.
Just remember what Iginla does for our team and what he will continue to do. I know most you people were happy with him for the most part but the article is just a friendly reminder of what Iginla is.
Honestly it would be freaking tough to cheer for this team right now without Iggy on the team. In the last year we have gotten rid of several players i loved (Lombardi, Phaneuf, Cammalleri, Aucoin, Bertuzzi, Boyd, Sjostrom, Prust, and soon to Conroy possibly) and replaced them with players i couldnt care less about like (Kotalik, Stajan, Hagman, Staios, Dawes to some extent, and Mayers).
Good article. As much as Iginla bombed out last season and just couple solid games down the atretch would have likely meant a playoff berth... he has it in him and I hope Sutter gets a guy like Spezza to play with him. Then I hope the real #12 steps up. Also if Iginla can somehow play his old pre-lockout game then he should have an outstanding season. I think if the Flames get a guy like Spezza and sign Tanguay that would be a great line...
