Massive overpayment for a 3-4 defensman they can sign without losing their top prospect and a first.
Really? No **** right?
I wasn't sure you caught that, because overpayment was my point.
We have no reason to trade with Pittsburgh unless it's worth our while.
I wouldn't say it's massive overpayment though. Tangradi isn't really anything special. He's Maroon with much better skating, but his hands aren't as good. He's a nice piece, but he's a prospect who won't be anything more than a 2nd liner unless he's on a stacked team (like Pittsburgh or Philadelphia).
He and a mid-round pick would probably be fair for Coburn. I want a high pick just because it's Pittsburgh.
Its a lousy source and I think that Tibbetts and Manderville trade will remain the last dealings between the two clubs for a good, long while.
Even if the Penguins decided Coburn was a target, which I doubt since his game is nothing near what we need to replace Gonchar with, Philadelphia would undoubtedly double the price for the Penguins to acquire him than probably anyone else.
Tangradi is untouchable, Shero's hard-on for him is somewhat ridiculous...and considering he is a young power forward with top six potential he is the only guy in the Penguins pipeline who can slot into the top six and not be stretched out.
