Won't be as effective in Montreal. We don't have the talent for him to complement.

Gomez feeding him passes seems like a good fit to me.

It would be awesome if we could swing some sort of deal centering AK and Buff.

I would like him on the team, but he would get lynched quickly in Montreal (and not because he is black ).

The guy does not have close to the same impact during the regular season as he does in the playoffs. The media and fans would be waiting for so much more in the 82 game season. In the playoffs it is different as goals come mostly off of cycling the puck down low and crashing the net, two things he excels at.

So while he would be worth getting just to see him in the face of the opposing goalies in the playoffs, I have a feeling many would want his head for his so-so play during the season.

I worry about his weight. I saw him during post-game interviews in his Under Armour during the playoffs and he certainly doesn't have an athlete's physique. And they say he USED TO have conditioning and weight issues.

I worry about us giving up a ton of assets for him and Byfuglien not being able to lay off the Montreal smoked meat sandwiches.

This. This is the type of guy we need. Size, can play on a third or second line, cheaper.

But why would they get rid of him ? He's an RFA, they could still keep him at a lower price then Byfuglien.

to chicago: sergei kostitsyn and a 3rd round pick
to montreal: Andrew Ladd

to edmonton: andrei kostitsyn
to montreal: 3rd round pick and Riley Nash

- sign frolov and pleks

Frolov - Plekanec - Cammalleri
Ladd - Gomez - Gionta
Pouliot - Eller - White
Pyatt - Lapierre - Moen

one of my worries is playing eller with no other offensive players, he needs to play 3rd line to start the year with 0 pressure, but he needs at least one offensive catalyst imo

Ladd, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, is scheduled to become a restricted free agent and is believed to be among the Hawks' most shopped players.
Good, go get him PG. Perfect fit for our team. The cost would propably be more reasonnable then for Buffen.

Gionta - Gomez - Pouliot
Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Cammy
Ladd - Eller - Moen
Pyatt - Bélanger - Lapierre

You want a defenceman who play forward ?

MAB will be sad to see that.

The Hawks are wise to sell high on Byfuglien. He's going to be a typical case of a player who is severely overvalued because of a single hot playoff run. He's ultimately a 20-goal scorer who's more of a third-liner, but after his playoffs some people will view him as a dominant first-line power forward and he's not just that. That gives the Hawks, who must clear salary, a great chance to get a big bounty for a player who's reputation exceeds his abilities.

Some GM will take the bait, and get fleeced. I hope it won't be Gauthier.

I continues with your story:
After he traded to Montreal, Byfuglien decides to be vegetarian and wants to drops 30 pounds. Finally, he can't skate, can't hit, can't fight and the Canadiens Montreal deacides to buy-out his contract. Fans will comparing him as G.Laraque and call him a bust and saying P.G is suck to make that move

If the Habs were to trade for Ladd it would be to play on the top 2 lines and create space for Plekanec Cammy Gio and Gomez.

I don't see that working with the cap...Plekanec will be a 4.5-5 mil cap hit, Frolov will be 5+ on the UFA market and Ladd will require 2.5-3 mil to get him signed.

I agree.

Getting Byfuglien now when his value is at a all-time high would be the equivalent of an impulse buy.

I think we are better off hoping Ian schultz becomes our very own Byfuglien, but at a sensible cap hit.

I'd cal him overrated too and at a 3million cap hit he's expensive for what he brings. Holmstrom with the red wings makes only 2.25million. He'll be asking for a lot more money after this season; probably around what Lucic makes (4million) who is also overpaid.

In addition to having to overpay him cap-wise we'd have to overpay for him in terms of prospects or picks; his value coming off winning a Stanley cup championship is probably at its highest with all the hype built up around him and Pronger (similar to Halak.) It would not make sense to give up decent prospects for him for the long term benefit of the team.

I think he would come in handy on our team but like others have mention he has a poor +/_ and is not a big point getter - he averages around 35points and 17 goals per season.

I'd love to have him on my team but not at his current cap hit or very likely even higher cap hit next season, not to mention having to give up valuable prospects.

The one player I'd really want to have from Chicago is David Bolland - man they really hit the jack-pot with him.

He,He,He. Good one. And once he gets his jack-pot contract with the Habs it would not suprise me one bit if he turns into a vegan tibetan monk who suddenly wants to save the world and invokes his front-of-the-net specialist code as a reason for not standing in front of certain nets.

Also, there is a risk getting players like Byfuglien if suddenly they decide to change the officiating rules and start calling penalties on any type of goaltending interferences.

as it was said earlier... Ladd is the guy I think we should target. And according to Bob's twitter, he'll most likely be on the move because of the cap.

I would take Eager too. Big, physical, gritty guy that can play hockey. Eager and Ladd would be heaven.
