It certainly wouldn't hurt, that's for sure.

Apparently Eller is a guy that plays big and can play on the wing. The answer could be here already, or maybe not.

If Pouliot trains hard this summer, we could be looking at two well balanced first lines.

I hope we deal the Kostitsyns, they're talented, but they wont flourish with us. Too much media drama, too much attention, get rid of em. Get somebody else to fill in.
I hope they are gone as well. It would free us up some cap space. I think every part of Andrei's anatomy suggests he is a great player except for his brain.

I'm happy with this. I think it's good value. To those that don't...4.5 it would have been fine with everyone...I would rather overpay the scorer and set up on the top lines and use kids on the lower lines for cheap than not retain the scorers and pay more for veteran grinders

I like it. Pleks and Gomez are great 2 way centres (granted they are overpaid) who play really smart hockey. Now all we need is a big winger to play with one of them

Well, Gauthier did say that his coach liked him so I guess signing him long-term was a must to keep the cap as low as possible; which means that PG considers $5M low enough. Happy for Pleks.

Not sure what they will do with Eller. I wonder if playing on the wing would be a problem for him. Centering the 3rd line? It would have to be a productive line as opposed to a checking one.

6 years. Dang.. I would have assumed 3 years, but I guess the organization really believes in him!

At 4M, you have Jardan Staal, Derek Roy, Handzus, Boyes and Horton.
Roy, Horton and Staal signed as RFA...
None of those players were impending UFAs. That status alone is good to give you 1 million bucks more...

Anyways, I'm happy. There was no better options at this point. Sure there was Marleau, but there was no guarantee we would have been able to sign him. And I like Plekanec more than Lombardi, who would most likely have been our plan B.

500k-1mil overpaid, but he would of gotten 5.5-6mil on the open market. Also gained new respect for Pleck for signing with us and not testing the market. Means the guy (really) wants to be here

If its gonna be 5M/yr i would have preferred a 4 year deal. At 6 years a 4.2M/yr deal would be nice.

Lets see what else Gauthier can do.

Good deal! I just hope it's not 4 years or we'll have a situation like last year where all of our players become UFA and we haven't got any return on our asset.

Ellar is better at center than winger from what I know. He's a passer first, has a good all around game and he's a big center that we clearly miss.

So, does montreal make a move to improve our top 6 or do we stand pat with what we have?

I'm all for that, even if AK does come back, because the team can't find any suitors, you can share Eller's time between the 4th line centre and this wing spot. You keep the 3rd line role for someone with experience like Moore or Lapierre at worst, and you can still slot Moen, Pyatt, White & Darche as 13th forward.
