Glad to hear you are going back. I think it's just an isolated incedent by a kid who's mom probably didn't love him enough. Normally people are pretty courtious and helpful to beginners.

I'm 28 and just started playing seriously last year and from the sounds of it there are a couple in this thread alone that started later than me. So as far as starting at 20 don't worry about that at all. Although it does kind of stink as we are way behind the guys who have been playing their whole lives.

About your situation that really sucks that someone would treat you like that. I am sure you biggest fear going in was something like that happening and unfortunately it did happen. I know I am getting a little more comfortable now, but when I first started I always worried that everyone there was thinking, "This guy blows. What is he doing out there." Usually though everyone was really cool and helped me out. If someone would have chirped at me or something I would have probably just chirped back, but if some punk fired 1 puck at me on purpose I would have asked to meet him off the ice. I am really sorry to hear that and hopefully it won't happen to you again.

You don't have to be good on your skates to cross-check somebody in the face. It's actually pretty easy.

Perhaps, but it is helpful to be good on your skates when the face-checked guy gets back up......as many punks tend to do.

You sure you don't know this guy? It sounds like behavior from somebody who did not get along with you at some point in the past. If not the guy deserves a beating. The only thing I would caution you is if this guy is a little off his rocker and he is a better skater than you if you do start something with him you better be ready to eat some punches, gloves or a stick. I've encountered guys like this in my 16 years of hockey, also started at 20, and some of the time these guys are not to be ****ed with. They're basically thugs and they are waiting for somebody to push back so they can inflict some damage. I usually suggest signing up for a boxing or MMA gym where they would get destroyed and they never seem to enjoy my advice. So my advice would be to handle your business like a man and be ready for whatever comes in return.

Have they stopped making those or is it on TV in Canada or are the dates all wrong? Because on the youtube channel, it says the videos were all uploaded two years ago.

I am from Ontario and I could be wrong but none of the arenas I have been around offer this kind of thing.

Is it a US thing?
Lots of areans here in ontario do it.

Chic Murry on burhanthrope does it same with west mall during winter.

we have stick and puck + shinny for free.

Its usually outdoor rinks.
