Apparently It's Going Up...

Gonna be around $59.5 million.

We should now have around $11 million in room with Latandresse to re-sign.

Does this change anything in regards to what we do in the offseason?

I don't think so.

We have some uncertainties going into the season and it is a weak FA class. I think we'll keep the cap room to make some moves during the season and then hopefully have a larger cap room for next year.

It does mean that the Wild could pitch at Marleau, but that would be completely contradictory to anything Fletcher has stated.

Negative in my book. The best option is to try to keep enough to the side for next season in order to sign koivu for length/cost along with probably Burns. If we do not have the aspiration of making the Finals this next year (which I know we are all in the same boat when I say no to that question) then there is no rush to spend everything right NOW type mentality. If we were the Penguins, then I would say this is in our favor to go after a Top-6 winger, but for us...its a "sweet, lets get the pieces in place but not going nuts" mentality.

if that makes any sense....

Makes perfect sense.

Why burn money now when you don't know what the future will hold if your team isn't ready?

Basically. Plus what promise do we have it won't go down next year or the year after?? the last thing we want is a Blackhawks type fiasco on our hands. We tend to overpay...

UGH! I know. I mean we're regretting Backstrom and Bouchard's contract now.

Yep, it's all about maintaining flexibility.
