I don't think I've ever wanted Eklund to be so right about something in my life.

I know...especially on a KINGS rumor...

I'd crack up if we gave them the rights to Randy Jones...

We've all heard "but it fell apart in the last minute" so many times. I'll believe it when I see it.

Kings got Doughty and Johnson to resign after next season, I just don't see how Kovy fits cap wise.

If the Kings can't strike a deal can they again trade Kovy's rights to another team?

If this is true, i can see waiting until the draft to announce it. Imagine Bettman coming to the podium and the first thing he says is "We have a trade to announce. LA acquires Ilya Kovalchuk for a conditional 3rd round draft pick." That would garner a huge ovation from the crowd and help sell Kovy on the city. Well played Kings.

Williams 3.5 million and Handzus 4 million come off the books. + some other salary stuff like Alan McCauleys buy out and what not. And Stoll can always be traded once Clifford and Brayden Schenn come around the corner.

Smyth is just too old at this point. He's like a dinosaur out there, it's kind of hard to watch. Stoll has some enthusiasm but just isn't good with the puck and the only shred of offensive decency he's ever had was his shot from the point on the PP, which as well know, can no longer find its way on net.

Williams is the only highlight of that line except for he's been injury plagued. I'd love to see what that guy can do with a full season.

I am sorry but a powerplay of:

Kovalchuk-Kopitar-Smyth
Doughty-Johnson

is down rite terrifying. Then LA can roll out

Williams-Handzus-Brown
Stoll-Hickey

you are looking at the leagues best pp units in along time.

Then you throw Bernier/Quick in net.

Schenn, Simmonds, Scuderi, and Greene in for depth. LA would be my pick to win the presidents trophy. That is an absolutely insane amount of depth!

I thought Ken Campbell of the Hockey News claimed that L.A. was going to be put up for sale. If that is the case, I doubt that they'll be adding payroll. Then again I always thought Campbell was weak.

Ownership has denied any sale whatsoever. They say they are interested in selling a piece of the team, but they aren't relinquishing ownership, just looking for partners to diver the cost. Not that they need it. Ownership is largely believed to be pressuring management right now to make deals such as this one to add a little zest to our market appeal and to help fill more seats.

What hot streak out of curiousity? I know he broke the Buffy trade which was impressive but since I don't read his site I don't really know, and his rumor chart doesn't count in my mind.

If true which I pray every night to get Kovy to LA(actually true) then it would definitly be for a conditional pick if we sign him. God please Kovy has been my favorite player since he was drafted, some like players that have sick dangles but I like Kovy who can dangle through the whole Hurricanes team and in the end snipe it top cheese, Eklund you better be right about this.

Eklund being right the past couple of days only opens the door for him to start blasting out terrible rumors again.

Not saying this one is inaccurate, but he certainl?y hasn't earned my trust yet.

Yeah, dinosaur Smyth who put up 20+ goals and 53 points in 67 games. He was one of the contributing factors that led to Kopitar's breakout last season. He's a great locker room guy, a leader, and sacrifices himself for the team. It was obvious he was burnt out at the end of the season, primarily because he was forced into a first line LW role because Frolov completely fell off the map. If played 12-15 minutes a night in a second line role, against opposing teams' second or third string checkers, he'll flourish.

Or at the very least, continue to put up 20-30 goals and 50-60 points. Not bad for a dinosaur.

I'm not sure if you're thinking of someone else, or just a rumour that didn't pan out, but this never happened.

You gotta put Kovy on the left point, half his goals come from there and he'd have the best one timer one your team.
