Sorry where did I say that? And if that was the player I thought my team needed to compete then yes I would be happy. If I am getting the best player in the deal then yes I am happy.

I'd also add that Buff has only played a 2 seasons at forward and has done pretty good in the limitted time he's had at forward.

Also, Atlanta's pick was the 24th overall and the 54th overall. Not real high picks, they also got a serviceable defenseman (joke all you want on Sopel but I'd take him over a few of ours) a prospect and a grinder.

YOU HAVE TO GIVE TO GET!

I wanted to know if you thought poile should have tried to land Buff and what you would have been willing to give for him.

yes, in a heartbeat.

or blum, which might have appealed to florida more since he'll be a couple years farther from u8fa status. and I'd have thrown in a 3rd next year or something if they'd wanted extra.

I have no idea why Boston would trade Savard, but I would LOVE to have him.

I don't remember where I heard it, but it sounded like they were shopping him for some reason...

I wouldn't have.

Something about Horton bother me, although I can't put my finger on it.

never had a name to begin with. just a dollar range. but a quick look at salaries and you can see the usual suspects. I still think we make a play for a guy who is a ufa after next year, that way if it fails, we get an asset at the deadline. then we deal with weber's deal being in effect

Gotcha. I still say Wheeler is a good bet, but Mikko Koivu would be pretty awesome though I doubt we have the pieces to get Mikko

If the rumors are true and Bos really is shopping Savard I would bet money that's who we are aiming for. An elite offensive center signed at 4 million for multiple more years. There's too much smoke right now to think the Preds aren't up to something. Now saying that I won't be surprised if we stand pat either.

I'm not saying we don't try, we just always seem to come up short, just like last summer, we almost landed a top line player, almost....

And rumor has it that Savard will drop his NTC for Detroit, Ottawa & Toronto ... family related

Looks like we won't be signing any big names. I guess "IF" we do anything, it will be through trades.

As per TSN's Gord Miller, Marleau's deal with SJ is 4 x $6.9M and Pavelski's is 4 x $4M. ..Mckensie

Poile wouldn't have paid that for Marleau and he wouldn't have come here either

After giving up Horton I doubt Florida will deal him, and I think he told Fla Mgmt. that he's not leaving.

But they sent out a letter to all their ticketholders and said they are cleaning house because they can't afford the current salaries. Of course they put it more elequently than I did. Weiss is not a big contract at all but for 3 more years it is if you are cutting salaries

Stars are looking to move Mike Ribeiro, what would you give for him. He's due $5M for the next 3 years.

he has legwandesque numbers... one stellar year, a couple of good years, and a couple of "meh" years...

doubt that we could afford that big a number for that many years...

I agree with whoever said poile would be looking to trade for someone with no more than a year or at most 2 left on their deal, unless its a sunsetting type deal with less money later

The Stars are looking to clear out money to improve their defense, so I would suspect they want a couple of young, cheap forwards (O'Reilly and Spaling?) and the 18th overall.

You have to go back to 2002-03 to find the last year when Ribeiro had under 50 points. He would have been our leading scorer last year, and he missed 16 games. None of that can be said for Legwand.

I would love to have Ribeiro on this team. The only question is, can we afford him in terms of trade and cash assets?
