No ESPY for Flyers?!

The ESPY awards are a joke! They have a category for 'Best Comeback' and the Flyers aren't nominated. Even though they were down in the Boston series 3 games to none and made history as one of the greatest comebacks EVER! Shame on ESPN for missing something like this. They ought to be embarrassed. This seems like yet another shun to hockey fans everywhere by this "Worldwide Leader in Sports". HA!
I call for an ESPN boycott (not that I watch much ESPN since they dropped NHL).

I don't need an "ESPY" to know kick-ass when I see it. The Flyers kicked ass that series.

This is not news. ESPN has sucked for quite some time now...as in, since 1987 or so.

Oddly enough, this category was not featured in voting mode (whatever that means).
So the award looks like its going to Kim Clijsters, the first unseeded woman to win the Open.

Other categories include Best Moment, Best Game, Performance Under Pressure Award, etc.

Crosby is nominated a few times for his Gold Medal winning goal and Best NHL player nominees are Crosby, Ovi, Sedin, Miller and Stamkos.

The Flyers get snubbed and Crosby gets multiple nominations?

Bettman must be crying tears of joy.

I think it is any type of comeback, but the real reason why the Flyers aren't included is probably because the ESPYs (or what I remember of them from when I actually watched ESPN) is a sports individual award show, not team award show.

they have team awards. that category may not be a team award category, however.

It's Comeback Athlete.

Athlete = single.
Team = plural.

Also, Jester was right.

I think what surprises me more of ESPN not caring about hockey is this thread has been open for 2 hours and no one apparently checked wikipedia?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best_Upset_ESPY_Award

I don't think they were nominated for this one though.

A few years back, a friend had tickets to the event in California and invited me to attend. I accepted the offer. Less than halfway through, I had the same nauseous sensation as food poisoning. In fact, eating ill-prepared chicken would have been a preferred option to reliving the event. (Charlie: insert Airplane! here). The irrelevant suckups were wallowing in acting like blithering dolts. The entertainment was akin to an abominable movie. Otherwise, the weather in Cali was enjoyable. Good show.

In that case Lappy should have got the nod.

No he shouldn't. It's called being a hockey player. I'd rather enjoy a sport where that is the norm than give him an award for it.

I went from:
"Wow this is a ****ing joke, are you kidding me? This rivals the Red Sox of '04 for the best comeback in the last 3 decades!"

to:
"Oh, ok. That would make sense..."

just from reading the first 10 posts
