2010 NHL Draft - Minnesota Wild Edition - VS

Let the post-Tommy Thompson era begin!

Draftboard:
9. Mikael Granlund LW HIFK (FEL)
39. Brett Bulmer RW Kelowna (WHL)
56. Johan Larsson LW, Brynas Jr. (SWE-JR.)
59. Jason Zucker LW USNTDP (USHL)
69 Traded to Florida for #59
99. Traded to Florida for #59
159. Johan Gustafsson G Farjestad (SWE-JR)
189. Dylen McKinlay RW Chilliwack (WHL)

A few news and notes:
1. This is the ONLY thread to discuss the actual draft, other team's moves and who the Wild pick on Friday and Saturday. If you want to continue to speculate about #9 then do it in the "Who should the Wild select..." thread; otherwise leave it in here. All other threads will be closed or merged into this one

2. Please take a moment or two and a deep breath before posting. Yes you will be pissed off about who Minnesota picks and/or what they trade. You are not the team's GM and are not in control of what happens, but regardless of how you feel in the moment it will be slightly better if you wait a minute or two.

3. Respect the poster. You don't have to agree with what happens or what someone posts, but don't belittle them, call them names or anything which would be considered flaming or trolling. On the same note, don't throw up something just to get a rise out posters. I don't care if you're a Wild fan, another team's fan or Gary ****ing Bettman, I'm going to have little patience and tolerance. This is the group's warning.

4.

5. Go Wild!

I'm so pumped for tomorrow, I can't be nearly as disappointed as I am with the Wolves draft. Well to be honest, I don't know much about it but it seems like everyone is mad about it.

I've been looking forward to this day for so long, I really hope we just take a guy at #9, but I just have this feeling in my gut we will trade back and get like a Bjugstad or Watson.

I do think when the Wild make a selection, a new thread about said prospect should be made... otherwise it would get buried in this thread.

I agree with this. I think GMCF will make it an interesting draft for sure.

Based off of last years draft, this year's draft will be interesting.

Even though this is the most excited I've been since 2006, I don't have good feelings about how this will end up. Hopefully my feeling are wrong.

Minnesota should do okay unless Fletcher is in a win-now mode.

I almost had this as #5 but you have to give credit to Kahn and co. Despite increasingly lower expectations, the Wolves find a way every year to leave the fanbase pissed off on draft night.

Don't think. He just wants to get young (don't we all) so I'm confident he will stick to his word (that he has mentioned almost weekly since he got hired)

Based off of his recent moves, I am uncertain if this is his plan. I am still thinking he is thinking this was an off year and is looking to get back or at least contend for the playoffs next year.

We'll all be smashed 5 mins in if we follow these rules, but I'm really looking forward to the "monster" comments by McGuire.

Warning. This is a rant.

Can we pleaseconvince the local media to get off the local player bandwagon? I juat read the Bruce Brothers article from yesterday and just like what we go through here with trade proposals, the local media seem to get off on grilling Fletcher and Co. about local talent. We're the only place I know of other than Montreal that jerks off to homegrown talent. Do Canadian teams go out of their way to pick kids from their province? No. So then why Mr. Brothers, should we?

Sorry for the rant.

Pumped for tonight! I'm hoping for a trade to shake up the roster a little bit.
