When places mention Brown in trade rumors with the Leafs, I take that to mean Burke mentioned him, and Lombardi said no. Nothing more than that honestly.

I am working at my office in palm springs and counting the minutes till I am out at 11, told the owner I am headed to the draft and a couple of pitchers with the fellas before hand and he says 'SWEET' gonna be a good day..........
How about Dustin Penner? Just a thought that popped into my head.. It seems like the Oilers are looking for another first round draft pick, maybe something centered around the two? Kings would probably have to add something to sweeten the deal a bit. He's a huge guy with some skill who goes to the net, plays left wing, had 32 goals and 63 points last season and was a +6 on an abysmal Oiler team. Two years remaining at $4.25M.
Obviously this would be if Lombardi isn't interested in Kovalchuk.

His 4.25M doesn't look nearly as bad as it did at the initial signing.
I'll trade you my Fritos for your Fruit Snacks? Maybe that will help get the ball rollin'. It is almost lunch time after all.
Whoa! You seriously under-value my fruit snacks! Throw in some chili with the fritos and I'll add a wet-nap to clean your hands after the fruit snacks...

Deal! And you can keep the wet nap.. you'll need it for the chili.
How exactly did he paint himself into a corner? He took a chance on getting the guy he wanted and loses relatively little in the process.
Homer shows everyone that he has big balls every off-season is what really happens.
Yeah, he makes great deals. That's why the Flyers' goaltending was such a mess the entire season and into the playoffs. I would say he spends too much money on the wrong things every off season. Don't kid yourself the Flyers were very lucky during the playoffs.
Martin's probably shooting for $6m a year. Considering he's the only two-way defenseman close to being a number one in the free agent pool, he might get it.

So were the Kings in 93. So what? This luck argument I've been reading the past couple of days is extremely weak. The Flyers were a team that was much better than their regular season record would indicate.
You could say they were lucky to get such good performances out of their goalies but that's the case with many "cinderella" teams in the SCF. As for the rest of their squad, they are pretty stacked.
I'm not envious of their current situation and I do support Lombardi, but everyone who appears to do things differently than Deano is not automatically a bad GM.
