Rangers-Sharks

I was looking around at some of the other boards and noticed that there is a rumor that Devin Setoguchi is available for the right price(of course).I know the Sharks are looking for some D-man so I throw this out there and see how badly I get burned.

How about,

Girardi and maybe a low pick.
for
Setoguchi

With Blake hanging them up SJ is thin on D,and the Rangers are looking for a top 6 forward.Seto scored over 30 goals 2 years ago and if not for injury's last year he would have come close again.

Not that I'm trying to get rid of Girardi but this is a deal take could help both teams, plus with all of the defensive prospects in our system it's not like we can't replace Danny Boy(although I do think he under-rated).

And just for giggles if we can't pry Seto away maybe switch him to Ryane Clowe(who is a few years older but still a 20-25 goal scorer).

Burn baby burn!!!!

Seems like a balanced trade to me... can't believe I just said that

... not convinced the teams would be up for it though

I could see it working, San Jose may get better offers for him though

Gilroy, Girardi, Potter and a 5th for Setoguchi and Murray. I want Murray! even if you post something with a team other then SJS I will some how make it a 3 team deal so we get some grit on D.
But back to your deal we may need to add more to get Setoguchi. He is young, cheep and good. He does play with Joe "please inflate my numbers" Thorton(this season he didn't play on his line so much and his numbers showed it)

Why do people continue to think that quantity for quality trades work? Would you trade Callahan and Girardi for Ortmeyer, Doug Murray, Jay Leach, and a 5th?

That deal doesn't benefit San Jose at all.

Agreed--SJ not looking to change their entire defense.

My thought is that their going to be making close to the same money wise and both teams have a need.

SJS needs depth, Potter is a 6/7 right now and Gilroy(also will be good on there PP, Murray is not) is too. both are cheep and add value and depth. maybe up the pick but that is about all. SJS want to revamp the team a bit. this helps. you guys who don't watch sharks games and listen to there media should not talk.

I'm skeptical of any player who excels on Jumbos wing.

Playmaker > Scorer

Real honest to God Playmakers turn average players into scoring machines

Some guys have it both. They rarely get traded

adding Setoguchi will be like adding a less physical but with more goal scoring ability version of Dubi. he was on the 3rd and 4th line most of the year. very hot and cold. I like his game better then Cheechoo's but the numbers are inflated by the same person playing the middle. and last year show it.

Wasn't Setoguchi inconsistent at best all last year? I'm asking not being sarcastic. Coming of the last year I'd make this but after the year he just had he showed he'd need a playmaker we can't give him. he'd be another frustrating inconsistent scorer on this team imo. Say no. We have a ton of Defenseman (Looking around the league thougha lot of teams farm systems are overpopulated with D-men) so Girardi can be an asset in the right trade that we could afford to part with. Just don't think this would be a good enough trade.

I dont like Girardi all that much(not for the Gaborik incident but for his positioning) but I would rather keep him then get Seto. but if we could package him for murray i would do it every time. murray is what we are missing on d or murray like.

girardi plus a 2nd for setoguchi is pretty fair value imo, arguably overpayment

its over, SJS needs D and could also free up some wing spots so i think you could do a Girardi for Seto.
