Habs on Marc Savard's NTC trade list [edit: conflicting reports]

Not saying we'll get him, but it's nice to see we're on someone "trade to" list. Savard sure likes his hockey mad cities, take a look at who's on his list.

Quote:
Savard in 2011-12 can be dealt to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Philadelphia and/or Chicago; in '12-'13, to those teams plus Florida, Tampa, Washington, Pittsburgh and/or NY Rangers; in '13-'14 to any Eastern Conference team, and in '14-'15 to any NHL team.
From Spector, who quotes both the Boston Herald and Boston Globe

That'd be fantastic, but we already have Plekanec and Gomez. And the asking price is probably pretty steep.

Very funny to read that they are all eastern team except Chicago.

That means if he is getting traded in 2011-13, he probably end up in Chicago, which i assume its the place he wanted to go first.

Since he pick all eastern teams.

Marc Savard for Kaberle and Grabovski

Savard will end up in Toronto now that the Bruins landed Tyer Seguin!

Oh man I can see how the negotiations happened.

Savard: "Fine, I'll re-sign here, but I want a NTC with Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal on the list."
Chiarelli: "... Er... We'll consider it."

I don't think it would work, like RoyBoyCoy said we already have the center position locked up for a while. I'd love to have him on the team but it seems unlikely.

I think I would be violently ill if we got that gutless little puke on our team. He'll never get the stench of the yellow and black off of him now.

I don't like Savard because he jumps in on scrums and throws punches, then acts like he did nothing.

Other than that, he's a great guy. He's from Ottawa, so probably would want to be close if he were dealt, that's why Montréal is there. Everyone knows Montréal and Boston rarely trade.

What a guy. In my eyes this all goes back to him saying a little while ago he wanted to retire a Bruin as all the teams listed in the first two years are set at center (except maybe Florida). He's given the Bruins a list of teams that wouldn't have interest in him in the first place, at least for a couple years by which time this will likely be sorted out.

Boston is close to the cap and Grabovsky would be a salary dump so no way he is involved, plus they already have too many centers. I think the only deal Boston would make is Savard for Kaberle and Schenn. I can`t see Boston doing Kaberle for Savard as Savard has a good long term contract and Kaberle is a UFA which will cost more than Savard gets after this coming year.

It does seem to me that Savard kinda played with Boston there. LIke it was said before, they probably ask him that we'd give you a NTC but still give us at least 5 teams where we still could trade you....Savard made sure he'd go to Chicago....

Just on contract alone, I'd do some deal of Gomez + for Savard. He's a good player, and better than Gomez, and I believe cheaper.

Mark Savard is one of my favorite hockey players in the NHL. Its too bad he got gooned by Matt Cooke(he will get his someday) I feel there are only a handful of players in the league with his vision, can you imagine the goals Cammy would get with a guy like savard feeding him the puck. It would be awesome. I hope he has recovered fully from his concussion. I would love to see him play here if it is at all possible.

It as nothing to do with him liking the Habs... He's from Ottawa that's why. All the teams he mentioned are near Ottawa.

Enough with you A-holes ripping on Gomez any chance you get. I want no part of the oft-injured, crappy attitude Savard. Let me guess - he speaks French right?

Gomez brings so much more to the table that you guys do not even realize - like grit, leadership, and defensive awareness (let alone instant transition ability). Savard has none of this.

Remember Savard when he refused to fight Sidney Crosby????

I didn't think so.

Same here Gomez is a much classier player and healthier.

Agreed, Savard is just a lot better than Gomez regardless of injury frequency. The thing I don't understand is why Savard is on the trade market. If they must trade him then I wouldn't be against making an offer starting with Gomez then add some valuables (That's the only way we'd be trading imho).

Then again my bottom line is I don't get why they're shopping him and I don't get Habs fan not wanting to make a pitch for Savard.

If Savard is on the market, it's because they have plenty of talented centers. So I don't think dangling Gomez in front of them would get a deal done. I could see the Bruins moving Savard to obtain a top 4 defencemen or a top 6 winger.
