it better be for Skinner imho lol.

this is just horrendous asset management. Why are we selling low here? Were better off holding on to him and seeing what can happen. guy has been an all-star at every level he has played at. What the hell are they thinking. At least give him a legit shot and see what he has got. give him 20 games or something like they did Lisin...dont just give up on a prospect who has been an offensive machine at every level.

this is just sickening.

2002: No first round pick
2001: Blackburn - injured
2000: No pick
1999: Brendl, Lundmark - busts
1998: Malhotra - bust
1997: Cherneski - injured
1996: Brown - bust
1995: no pick
1994: Cloutier - bust (a bad starter is nothing to waste a pick on)

So since the Cup, we managed to draft one good player (Staal) and a couple bad ones who aren't worth it.

Everyone now has big hopes for the kids drafted post 2007, but it's really too early to judge 19-21 year olds.
To be fair, Del Zotto I think has already proven some real NHL talent. He outscored Drury this year, and posted 9 goals as a 19 year old rookie defenseman. The others aren't guaranteed to be anything yet, but I think Del Zotto can be declared a good pick.

On a more depressing note, Cherepanov was considered to be a sure shot as a quality NHL player.

i hate don maloney.

2006 was post lockout.

And don't forget they probably don't make this trade if they kept the 3rd round pick they traded for Boyle.

So essentially we're down Sangs+3rd for a disposable bust and some random 2011 picks.

No clue, but I'd be OK with that. I'd of traded Sangs straight up for a 2nd.

What makes you think that?

The two things are completely unrelated. If we traded Sanguinetti for a 3rd rounder in 2010, you might have an argument, but as it stands, this is baseless speculation.

EDIT: 2nd rounder would be decent. Although Caps is likely to be late.

Bad deal. I rather would of packaged him in a deal for a forward.

The **** cherry on top will be a massive deal to Volchenkov on July 1st when they just spent their first rounder on a player with many similarities.
