What a weird ****ing draft this has been.

I have said this before, Sanguinetti was truly horrible every time I watched him play. Whether it was the WJC, preseason, or on the Rangers, he didn't go in playing his game. Del Zotto stepped in at training camp and did what he does best, run the power play and create offense. Sanguinetti kept trying to impress defensively, and not only was he bad, but I saw no scrape of offense from him. I know this will garner a few questions, but I have friends who have played in the OHL with Sangs, and they all claim that the kid is a complete meathead mentally.

I still don't think he should have been traded.

How is the trade a fail? You should be thankful to get a second for a prospect who has not progressed as he should have since being drafted.

Bad deal. Next years draft is very weak. And we're almost getting a 3rd rounder anyway.

Sanguentti to CAR for CAR 6th and WSH 2nd (2011)

This is what you get when other D men jump the kids progress. Bobby Sangs has yet to cut it at the NHL level.

Meh

This deal was made because the Rangers expect to be able to draft Adam Larsson next year.

At this point, I think it's a 3rd next season. Makes sense. Former 1st rounders who are still young but stagnant usually fetch a 3rd or 4th.

I'll take it. Sanguinetti sucks.

The only problem is that Sather isnt pulling the trigger when he has a chance. Montoya, Sanguinetti and Korpedo have fetched us nothing in return. He needs to learn to trade these kids when their ceiling's high.

Anybody know why Sangs spent the extra year (2008) in the OHL? Was it a personal decision or did the club make it for him?

I was hoping maybe they threw brash in there... whatever. He probably wasn't cracking the lineup this year anyways, and then he'd be an RFA next year with questions marks surrounding whether he'd ever make it. Glen sold while he still could.

honestly, that sounds like a pretty decent return for a guy who IMO doesn't have a future here.

I personally would have just kept him... A #50-#60 pick, and a very late pick... I just feel like it would have been better to give him a chance.

Hey Jas thats what I was thinking

Stockpile picks for next year cause the talent is ALL in the first 10 picks. If there's a draft to trade up its next years.

Of course Sather will trade that 2nd at next years deadline for a rental

Can't say that maybe Glen looking to replace the 6th round pick he dealt to the Islanders.

whoever wrote all those nice words about Sangs on the Rangers website 20 prospects in 20 days is pissed.

Obviously we have Potter, Sauer, had Sangs, have McD drafted Mcllrath, Girardi, MDZ, Staal, etc. Sangs was expendable. The year before that we had Staal then Cherepanov who was going to be a good player. Can't blame him on our scouts. Then MDZ, kreider, Mclrath. MDZ obviously has shocked with his development so far so you can't really say our 05-10 is bad at all. You could see for awhile now Sangs likely wouldn't make it but you can't say that about MDZ, Kreider or Mcllrath which is good. Until they have a season that makes you say "They prob won't make the team" It means they are on track to make the team.

Honestly Kreider developed more in his first year than i think Sangs ever did. Sangs never took a jump as a prospect and although he definitely could have made the team this year he just couldn't add the D to his game. Waiting to see what picks we got. To give up on a 1st rounder when he has a def shot to make the team this year is moronic unless you actually get decent value for him. Doesn't matter how expendable the position is. Should have made them take Brashear and/or Voros as part of the deal IMO.

Then again i worried about this in earlier posts. We already had the gilroy thing. MDZ was great but also a defensive headache for Torts at many times. Mc, Sauer, potter and Sangs were all knocking and if they have plans to bring one up I can't say Torts is gonna want MDZ, Gilroy, Sangs and/or Sauer/Potter. and/or McD. Waaayyy too many young kids to coach up on the blueline. So they traded the least defensively responsible of all of them.

This a good trade. Washington's playoff chokes means this pick could be between 55-57.

Sanguinetti was chosen 21st overall and gave the team a whole lot of nothing.

To get a 2nd round pick for a soon-to-be 23-year old with a whopping 5 games of NHL experience is a friggin steal.

But agree with a lot of youy: stop drafting local kids ion the 1st round. They've all sucked.

Ferraro twins...Jessiman...Sanguinetti.

What the hell are they thinking. At least give him a legit shot and see what he has got. give him 20 games or something like they did Lisin...dont just give up on a prospect who has been an offensive machine at every level.

this is just sickening.
Because it's Glen Sather. Abysmal asset management.

Oh and if dumping Sangs was so imminent, remind me why we passed on Fowler again?!?

I was partly being a wise-ass, but, truthfully, I am not expecting much from next year's team.

Anyway, I hated seeing the Rangers pass on Berglund to take Sanguinetti, but, much like last night's pick, I wanted him to become an important player for the Rangers. In the back of my mind, I feared they were going to move him at some point this off-season.

Am I the only one who thinks Sangs could end up being more promising than Gilroy?

I really hope we don't regret this....

Next year, when another Weal or Kabanov is available late in the second (and there is always a guy like that in every draft), you will appreciate having another second rounder.

Not a bad trade at all.

I would not mind if the Rangers traded Sauer for a #3 and a #7 next year. Pile on the picks, use them on high-risk, high-return guys.

I called Bobby Sangs being a bust a while ago, I knew plenty of people who played with the kid and he was NOT a 1st round pick player at all. Oh well the return is fair and IMHO was the last pick of the failed 1st rounders. Hopefully the rest of our 1st rounders going forward pan out! (McIlrath)
