And the OHL is the easiest league of the 3 to score in.

They want to make me suffer with more QMJHL forwards.

Yeah, Claude Giroux wasn't good enough to be drafted in the OHL, just FYI

TORONTO, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Tye McGinn of the Gatineau Olympiques is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 5. McGinn played six games recording 13 points including six goals and seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-2.

McGinn tied a franchise record on New Year’s Eve with five assists in a 7-1 victory over the Lewiston MAINEiacs on Thursday night. He added a goal as first star of the contest with his first career six-point game. His week was also highlighted by his first career hat-trick including the game-winning goal scored in a 5-4 win over the Val d’Or Foreurs on Sunday. He added an assist for four points as first star of the game. In addition, his week included two goals with the game-winner on Monday as second star of a 3-2 win over the Montreal Juniors. He contributed an assist in a 4-1 loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and was held scoreless on Wednesday in a 6-4 loss to the MAINEiacs and in his first game following the winter break on Sunday December 27 in a 7-5 loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

McGinn, a 19-year-old from Fergus, ON, is playing in his second QMJHL season with the Olympiques. He currently leads his club in scoring with 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points in 36 games.

Love Giroux, but I hate having too many QMJHL prospects. Watching games in French does not suit me, and I don't think too highly of most QMJHL forwards; the way they play because of league tendency more than anything that's their own fault. For example, I very much dislike Labrecque as a prospect.

Labrecque is a 6th rounder. Outside of a few notable exceptions, is anyone ever excited about those guys?

RT @DNFlyers: The thing that is a little surprising is that McGinn is almost 20 years old. Turns 20 next month. He is almost a full 2yrs older than Chaput

he has a 1990 birthday.

shouldn't he have been drafted in 2008?

since he is an overage jr, shouldn't he have been a free agent?

since he will be over 20 at the start of the season, where does he play?

Fair enough point, but I'm not excited about McGinn either.

I'm still on the fence about Chaput.

Exactly. He might head to the AHL next year. He hasn't even shown much in the CHL.
