145. VAN- D Adam Polasek. Another nice pick-up for the Nucks. Skilled puck-mover who is only 180 lbs at 6'0.
Hockey's Future Analysis
Quote:
Listed at 6'2, 187 pounds, Polasek looks bigger both on and off the ice. The Czech has a hard-hitting, and effective, approach to defense. But his skill should not be overlooked. He skates well, has a hard and accurate slapshot, and makes good reads. Polasek was steady and dependable in his own end and he could quickly read the play and make moves to intercept. Strong on his skates, the 18-year-old has plenty of room to grow
*Note - they had him as the 15th best draft prospect from the QMJHL.
Polasek finalist for RDS Cup as QMJHL Rookie of the Year, and Raymond Lagace Trophy as QMJHL Rookie Defensemen of the Year

Czech defender, played nationally at the U18s last season and moved to the QMJHL this season. 41 points in 66 games with Prince Edward Island Rocket. Could play in the WJC.

Polasek is young for the 2009 draft class, not turning 18 until July 12. And the U18s have helped Polasek's stock. ISS has ranked Polasek 120th on their April (post-tournament) list, and cited him as a riser.
These two guys, Price, Connaughton, Andersson...yeah definitely that's the type of D that Gillis is targetting. And that's fine with me.
Lots of guys who could eventually crack the lineup.

Exactly.
You have to assume that at least ONE of Sauve, Connauton, Price, Andersson, McNally or Polasek is gonna be a player.
I proposed we select Polasek in the first Official Draft Thread and i got that same Libor joke. Hahah, no i don't think they are related.
From what i've read of Polasek during the season, i really liked him. Hell, i even liked him for a late 7th round flyer last years draft. He decided to move over to get better development, because he was playing in a lower tier czech league. And from his coaches and fans, they say he has been their most impressive defenseman this season and as a rookie in the Q.
IIRC, he has been playing the big minutes, on the top pairing against the top lines.
I don't know anything about him but from his bio + stats.. seems like he's a really good pick. I'm especially glad he plays in the CHL so we can track his progress better.
