"Iilahti has definitely turned some heads here [at the U18s]," one scout told HF. "I know of several NHL clubs who are seeking more info. One who is very serious about him as high as the third round. He has developed very well this year and although he was to backup [Sami] Aittokallio he has really run with this chance."

Starter for Finland at the U18's. Would be curious to hear what some of those well-versed Finnish HF'ers have to say...

Sounds like an Aztec name or something.

Bodes well for him.

Pronounced as:
Ii -> "ea" in "easy"
Lah -> "lah" in "ayatollah"
ti -> "ti" in "tinordi"

Something like that.

Oh no, he has a bad name. People with bad names suck, and don't make the NHL, Dammit Gillis.

If this hockey thing doesn`t work out we could always arrange him as some sort of blood sacrifice to the hockey gods.

Correct me if I'm wrong (like that needs to be said on a message board) but was Noronen our last European goalie?

Having read about Byfuglien well before hearing his name called in a play by play, I always thought it was Bi-fu-glee-en. When I finally saw a Chicago game took me a couple minutes to figure out who "Buff-lyn" was.

Congratz Canucks, for picking Iilahti.

Has potential to be a great goalie and it was a surprise to me that he wasn't picked earlier.

Thanks! Always good to hear anything positive from people on here who actually follow/know something about the players. Do you think he has it's likely that he will be the backup for Finland at this year's U-20?

It's very much possible, but because of Finland's rate of producing good goalies I can't be sure. But what I'm sure of is that Iilahti is one the best goalies among his age group at the time.

What I have heard Iilahti will be one of the goalies that will play in the Finnish U-20team in Lake Placid in August-September against USA and Sweden. So he is, as FinRuutu said, one of the most tallanted goalies from Finland right now. And he has developed fine the past year.

Depends on if you count Eddie Lack.

So we've added three goalies to the system now in the past year, where does that leave Morgan Clark? Seemed like he took somewhat of a step last year, at least he's not just a punchline anymore right?

I'd say Clark is done with this organization with the severing of ties with his father as goalie coach. It was a terrible, nepotistic pick at the time and still is.
