On second thought this more accurately describes how I feel.

The ultimate "f you" is having an owner who could give a damn about winning.

Nope...

Just because McIlrath wasn't the sexy pick doesn't mean it was a bad pick, slated to go top 15 it wasn't a huge reach. He fills a need. Sanguinetti was the odd man out I mean look at all the D prospects we have something had to give and I wouldn't be surprised to see another moved. I think Thomas and Yogan are solid picks as well.

Staal pulling a Dubinsky isn't a big deal as of right now, I have a feeling the kid will break before Sather does.

Staal should get 3.5m-4m, and Girardi will probably want around 3m... with Rozsival not being traded, Redden not being sent to HFD until October(?), and Drury still eating a huge cap, I am not looking forward to July 1st, or next season, unless Slats pulls off another robbery of a trade.

/although I will be happy if McDonagh signs a contract
//pleeeeeeeeeease

One of the reasons D-men slip in the draft is several GM's realize that, in general they develop slowly, and are free agents when they actually have value. Team invests the time and then get held hostage.

if they give him that offer sheet we'd easily match it imo

Certainly not AS confident in the direction. I'll admit that.

Let's spend millions on mercenary free agents, but play hardball with our homegrown RFAs we developed.

The organizational philosophy is FUBAR.

They say that every year. Then the week before its "the deepest draft since 2003" or whatever date you like...

This stuff happens every off season. People flip out when players aren't signed right away witout problem, or when the negotiating ploys start getting out to the media.

Staal isn't going to leave, Sather will get him signed. He just always plays hard with RFA's and doesn't believe in giving them huge multi year deals as their first non entry level contract.

They'll fight about it, but he'll get signed and life will go on

you do not get bent over by a kid with no arbitration rights. it just doesnt happen. Rangers would be fools to give in to what he wants. they need to put the squeeze on him. If he can find an offersheet, then we can match it, but till then, hes just a kid trying to get a pay day way before he deserves it.

WTF would be the point of restricted free agency if you're just going to pay them like UFAs?

Do you think the $1.85 Dubinsky ended up with was us screwing him?

Even better, what's closer to true:
1) Dubinsky at the $1.85m he received was a contract really screwing him.

or

2) Dubinsky at the $5m he wanted was a contract that would've been him screwing the Rangers.

I think #2 is a much more realistic statement.

I would like to see Sather make a decisive move like this. A move similar to the Messier trade in 92 that can set us in the right direction. Seems like he just makes opportunistic moves that fall out of the sky and land on his face.

As I reported on here a month ago he is not a big fan of Torts and wants big money. Mock me and bash me but I was right on this a while ago. Staal and the Rangers will get ugly

I wonder if there is any connection between the "Kaberle being moved tonight" rumor and Marc Staal negotiations.
