Don't get me wrong, I'd be out of my skin if we took Pulkkinen (I took in the 2nd round in a mock draft), and if someone else takes him, I'll hurt a little bit inside, but when it's the end of the 3rd round I'm not going to kill them for not taking someone no one else has either.

For the first time in franchise history, the team didn’t have a 30 goal scorer, but Michael Chaput shows he has that potential as he potted 28 goals this season to lead the team and added 27 assists.

“(Chaput) plays every facet of the game, power play, penalty killing, he has the most goals on our team,” Houle said. “He’s a good player and he’s strong physically and hopefully he gets drafted. He’s going to be a big part of this team for the future.”

Chaput won the Federal Distributors trophy for the most improved player on Tuesday night at the team’s award banquet. He missed half of last season with a shoulder injury.

“Right now I feel great, it was obviously hard in the beginning, and took a little time to adjust,” Michael Chaput said.

Only ten picks to go and this thread might be an afterthought. Pulkks is still on the board.

But he's not anymore. And to detroit too. OUCH!

Has anyone picked after Detroit?

I keep refreshing the page and it says Teemu is the last one picked.

NHL.com seems to have died, and the NHL Network is brutal.

I'm following it here: http://www.eliteprospects.com/index.php#5

Not a fan of this pick, there are multiple guys I rather would have had.

Haha! See, Detroit is not so smart - it is just that other teams are so dumb.

Chaput is probably the most underrated player in the Q.
He is solid at both ends of the ice, has great skating abilities, strong puck-handling skills, an excellent shot, plays physical, has a solid character and is very coachable.
This is a good, solid pick.

Damn, now I have to secretly cheer for the Flyers. He was one of my best friends growing up.

The guy is a tank. Has speed to burn, a great shot and seems to prefer going through people rather than around them. He works incredibly hard on and off the ice (constantly in the gym) and never gets tired. His brother is a Carolina draft pick and his father was a Flyer draft pick as well. Although I've seen him absolutely dominate offensively in minor hockey, he projects more as a defensive 3rd liner with offensive upside (think Jordan Staal right now) who can play any role. Expect him to bulk up even more and TBH, with the amount of time and effort he spends working on his game, he could easily become much more than expected.

The Flyer safe house is under the Tim Horton's on Ste-Catherine and Metcalfe. Flash the cashier named 'Bobby' a Jack of Diamonds, and you're at the firewall door. I'll teach you the secret knock after we run a routine background check.

His dad was a Flyers' draft pick (hopefully, he's more Alex Burrows than Alex Burris):

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/news...-chaput-1.html

Quote:
Like father - wait 33 years - like son.

The Flyers reached back into their past Saturday to perhaps forge some of their future.

At the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in Los Angeles, the Flyers' used their top pick (third round, 89th overall) to select center Michael Chaput.

Michael is the son of Alain Chaput, who also was taken by the Flyers way back in the sixth round (107th overall) of the 1977 NHL Entry Draft.

So there was a slightly more exuberant celebration in the Staples Center when the Flyers called Chaput's name. There's a little connection there that must make dad extra proud.

"Since I was two years old, (Alain) was the one I would go on the ice with every day," Michael said in a telephone conference call. "He was the one who taught me a lot. He coached me in minors. As soon as I got drafted, he mentioned (his own selection in 1977) right away."

In fact, the Chaputs are all one big happy hockey family.
