From Eliteprospects:

A very hardworking player. Westin forechecks with great intensity and always gives his best effort. Skates hard and has pretty good timing in his hits. Not the most technically skilled player, but still manages to put up some points on the board.

Funny with John Westin, I live only 90 km from Ornskoldsvik, so I might go and see some games with him next season!

I'm not saying they will all pan out. But right now, that's a seriously impressive list of prospects in one draft.

Tallon does know how to build teams from the bottom up. As long as he has guys in FLO that know NHL filing deadlines, he should be great.

so close to getting my Pick for the seventh round in Hannay.. stupid Vancouver picking him 2 spots ahead of us. Seems like we had an okay draft, I like our first overall pick... as for Flordia, they are looking like they could be strong in a few years. And if Kabanov takes of in LI than they could look scary too.

Logged on just to say that the guys on RIS are the most ******** hockey ''analysts'' I ever saw. Laughingly bad. I could do better than those 3 guys put together, ugh. They didn't know **** about any prospects except the Q ones, and even then, they probably never saw them play.

Here's Therrien with a wonderful quote (translated more or less) : ''Everyone says Tinordi is a good pick, but why did nobody pick him before 22!? HUH?!?!''

I'm a francophone myself, but god damn, why are we the only &?&?/"($?* team that gives so much of a crap about a player's nationality? Sigh...

That's where I see the real value in getting that 15th pick from Boston in the Horton trade. That allowed them to sell high and stockpile some 1st & 2nd rounders which were quite quality picks for this draft.

I was wrong, well done on that trade.

Surprised Marcel Noebels and Victor Ohman went undrafted. Wouldn't have minded either at 207.

I have to say, for me, it has the most unsexy draft year since Timmins is on board.

Tinordi is a great pick. Remains to be seen if he'll end up being the best shutdown d-man chosen from his spot to later. I think he will though. No 2nd and 3rd makes it for not having a good show...not Timmins fault. Then the big question mark in McMillan, Ellis is a fine defender, reliable but unsexy (and I had him on my wishlist...), Gallagher might be the most spectacular pick after the our 1st round but will he ever pan out, and Westin who nobody knows.

Again though, we will see in 3 and 4 years. But as of now, totally unsexy. There were definately better "names" out there at our turn. I stress names 'cause ranking a draft during draft day, it's all about names. Not about end-result.

I'd give him a B. Tinordi is a great pick. Ellis is reliable. Gallagher is a boom or bust. In the end....McMillan might be the one that will change that rating....
Totally agree, there aren't any Avtsins or Bennetts like last season. Not even a Quailer or Trunev like the year before. Outside of Gallagher (his stats are impressive for a 17 year old) and Tinordi...this years draft seems pretty safe/boring. Nothing intriguing.

I'd give a B- or C+.

glad the Canadiens picked Ellis and Gallagher, 2 players I wanted. It sucks we didn't get Ranford in the 7th but anyway.

I think LA hit it out of the park with guys like Toffoli and Weal, who I think are more than legit players. LA has done a great job over the years building great skills and depth in the farms.
