There are a lot of RFAs who will not be signing their contracts for quite a while this year. No offer sheet market and lots of teams trying to hold salaries to self imposed budgets. Look for a slow summer and signings to pick up in September. Also remember, if there are really designs on moving Redden (one can only hope) there's only so much room until he can be waived through the league in September.
Son'uva beeaatch! I don't want to lose Staalsy. ****ing Sather...
Welcome to the suck?
Who said it was Sather's fault? Somebody said Staal doesn't like Torts and if Staal is asking for big time money then its Marc's fault. If Torts is the reason he isn't signing, time for a new coach. It's not a good thing if your players don't like your coach.
If he gets a bigger contract, it's Redden who's leaving the roster.
Hopefully Redden is leaving regardless.
A boy can dream.

This might be a drawn out thing over the summer but I don't believe the Rangers are in any danger of losing Staal. If Redden needs to be sent to Hartford or traded to make room for Staal's new contract then it would be a bonues. Lock up a core player and dump some dead wood.
Step back from the ledge, people. A player actually has to sign the offer sheet, if presented to him. I don't see any team offering more then $4.5 million per year for him, if any team will even send him an offer sheet. The Rangers will match that.
The Rangers and Staal will settle around 4 years at $4 million per year.
Staal take your 2 year 2million dollar a year contract and come to camp ready to go..
Sather has been consistent in how he pays his players as they grow within the organization. Tyutin, Girardi, Cally, and Dubi all made similiar money as there ELC's expired. Now Dubi did it kicking and screaming and came into camp behind and had a slow start because of it. Just accept the deal and make coin in 2 years..
Henrik was the only time Sather has deviated from his normal strategy.
Im also surprised this is happenign because his agent is Bobby Orr. I kinda figured he'd be a little more old school as things progress with Staal.
