Verbal deal for Nabby (2011 7th round pick for rights, if signed before July 1)

http://www.csnphilly.com/06/26/10/So...499&feedID=704

Quote:
LOS ANGELES -- The Flyers came to this NHL draft looking for a goalie via the trade route.

Their camp took the red eye from Los Angeles back to Philadelphia on Saturday night after the draft without a No. 1 goaltender, but they made slight progress.

According to league sources, the Flyers have a verbal agreement in place with the San Jose Sharks to fork over a seventh-round pick next season if they can sign San Jose’s Evgeni Nabokov before July 1, when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Late Saturday Meehan said it might not be "feasible" to get a deal done before July 1.

Don Meehan, the agent who represents Nabokov, told CSNPhilly.com earlier that his client’s no-trade clause is not an issue. San Jose obviously has given the Flyers permission to get a deal done and Meehan is willing to engage the Flyers ahead of July 1.

Sharks general manager Doug Wilson, who would not confirm anything, said there were some things surrounding these negotiations that could take days to complete.

Wilson referred questions to Flyers’ GM Paul Holmgren, who declined comment on any specifics.

I love the thought of Nabokov, leighton, backlind and bobrovsky in net for the regular season. I think we will all be nervous going into the playoffs with nanny #1....

I hope you guys sign Nabby. He's quality goalie and behind your D, should fare well.

I wonder what the conditional pick is - my guess is a 4th or 5th.

It would be a 7th round pick.

I've been very iffy on Nabokov in general, but if the contract is fair then why not give him a shot? Sure he hasn't had much playoff success and quite frankly he looked like he just said "**** it" in the Olympics... but the guy is talented. He's been in some real goaltending battles out West in the playoffs. I'd be very anxious to see what he can do with our team.

Thats seems wayyyyyy too high. If that is truely what he is seeking, then I dont think Holmgren will bite.

3 years @ 4.5 per is what I'm expecting. 3 years @ 4.1 per is what I think he deserves.

If Nabokov is expecting any more then 4.5 per this year then I think he's gonna get Biron'd.

So the offseason so far is ...
The Flyers getting Nabby and a 3rd for Parent and a 7th? It has been an amazing June, even with the loss to the Hawks.

As long as it's a reasonable price and a reasonable contract length, I'm liking this.

No way in hell he gets Biron'd.

They are two COMPLETELY different type caliber goalies.
