Way too much for me. I'd prefer 2 years and I really don't want anything more than 4 million. I'd rather get one of the other UFA's for 3 or less.

It's almost too perfect. Something must go wrong...

Wouldn't 2 years be better just because we have to re-sign JVR I mean if he progresses like we hope he could get a 5 mil a year deal?

No, I want Paul Holmgren to meet 2 criteria: a) improve the goaltending, b) keep some cap space. I will be happy -- i.e., can overlook holes in his game -- with Nabokov signed for $4 mil or less. Having all the power in a buyers' market and still spending out to less than $1 million of cap space will be yet another smear on Holmgren's GM stint.

I am also pessimistic seeing that Don Meehan is the agent. Meehan seems to be the kind who needs to prove how much of a hard-a$$ negotiator he is, particularly with the high-profile players.

More of a hard-ass than Hamhuis' agent?

Career playoff save % and Goals Against I don't know but that looks pretty good to me.

I've never heard of Wade Arnott, so I have no clue what went wrong between he and Holmgren. But Meehan sitting face-to-face with the Flyers braintrust doesn't reassure me one bit.

Most of us already acknowledge that Nabby is indeed a really good goalie. Being behind Pronger and Timonen if signed, he should be outstanding next season. I'm happy that he has a chance to still be on one of the best cup-contending teams. Good luck signing him guys.

ugh, i stand corrected.

at least ive never seen nabby miss a shot because he was hiding in the net during OT of AN ELIMINATION GAME OF THE STANLEY CUP FINALS.

edit: but thats only because he chokes before he gets to the finals.

Even people that really have seen him play, such as yourself, know what he can do. But it seems that some just don't think he will do well and/or quit/choke for the Flyers, just like with the Sharks. He is someone we've been looking for in a long time, but people don't want him apparently... Every goalie chokes. It's impossible not to, even at older ages. I find the defense, especially this post-season, showed that if your D can't help you, the goalie doesn't mean much. Look how easily the Flyers handled Brodeur, who I still find to be a much better goalie than Nabby. However, with someone like Nabby behind our D, it's going to be a really awesome year for the Flyers.

So only he choked? Not his team?

Nabby has better glove, more consistent, excellent reflexes, better positioning, better lateral movement, better puck handler, better accomplishments and just more experience on every level, can steal games. The only problem he has or fans may think he has that he does not come up big in big games and so far he did not. Not on a level that most fans would like him to be. However, he's been solid #1 for a very long, long time unlike 250 games Mason. Rookies of the year and a few ALl Star games.

How about you create a poll and compare Mason to Nabokov on main boards. See what other people think. Maybe you’ll get some arrogant comments toward you, from arogant fans just like you. Sounds like ‘you know’ what you are talking about.

Here, below is your opinion and where you are coming from. This is who you really are and this is what most of your opinions are all about. Right here below.

You have seen a few games. So right there you think you know. with you I've got to read between the lines. You haven;t seen ****. You probably saw highlights. lol

Hell, even Nabokov has more games won than Mason has played.

from what i saw (and i didnt see every game), it looked like a team choking effort. regardless, he was part of that effort.

its hard to explain, but i really dont want to see nabby as a flyer. just gives me bad vibes for some reason.

Couldn't Holmgren and Nabby just agree to wait until July before signing anything, that way they don't have to give a pick to Sharks?

And risk him pulling a Hamhuis and bail on us? Id rather give up a 7th round pick which is useless (unless you're Detroit), and sign Nabby ASAP.

However, I don't think we will sign him, but I hope I am dead wrong.

A last round 2011 pick is that important?
