Exactly. My only concern would be the supposed rumors that him and Marleau butted heads in the past.
They did, it was a big deal back then. However, as I remember, they've long since put that behind them. Plus Nolan would not be the captain anymore.
Nolan spends his off-seasons at his home in the bay area. He owns the Britania Arms down the street from the tank. This is his home, and I am sure he would love to finish out his career here.

Seems like a no-brainer then. He could bring a J.R. like energy to the team and production to boot.
No , I don't want to see him in teal. I want him to retire. I don't want to see him in anything other then a Stars uniform. He's a Star and it shoudl stay that way.
Not a fit for the team. The old guys we have brought in the past were brought in for leadership. We have lost some of that with Blake and JR leaving, but the hope is they left a little of their example with the guys who remain. True we need some scoring out of the third line, but if we are going for an older guy on the third line, someone like Madden that has a two way game and speed is more appealing.

problem with madden is he was paid 2.7 yet only scored one goal the whole playoffs, and only 10 goals in the regular season. Unless he wants a manny contract(last year's, not the one manny's looking for now), then he's just not worth the price. I guess you can factor in his pk ability, but a lot of cheaper guys fill that role quite well.
I'd much rather get Nolan. He's probably a better player right now, he would ask for less money, and he's never won a cup. I'm sure he wants that to happen a whole lot.
I think Nolan would be better than Modano if DW decides go that route. Nolan has more left in the tank and has that "never won a cup" thing going on near the end of his career.
Can you imagine how loud the tank would be for his return? Goosebumps.
But he would have to accept a 3rd/4th line role for a cheap salary.

3rd line ya, but with 1st/2nd line fill in duties whenever needed. I'd MUCH rather have Nolan filling in that spot than Malhotra.
not the play the duhrrr card but remind me again is Minnesota dumping Nolan? Or is it that you guys really want him back in Teal?
He's UFA. That's all. Everytime he's been a UFA he has tried to return here. So I suspect he'll give DW a call again and say "hey, i'll play cheap, let me come back!". Just a guess though.
Man it would be great if Nolan was given a shot here. I agree with the above poster that the tank would go nuts upon his return to teal. I think we would be in a great spot if we got him.
He played 3 less games than Torrey Mitchell and put up 19 points, including 12 more goals. Age doesn't matter if he comes in sub-million dollar and can do what he did for Dallas last year.
That's a good point, out with Torrey in with Mike! Dw should trade him for his rights and a 5th,Id be cool with it ha...But yeh Nolan makes alot more sense, they lack any decent RW on the bottom 6 so its perfect, I would like to see a lineup of
Heatley-Jt-Seto
Marleau-Pavs-Clowe
McGinn-Couture-Nolan
Mitchell-Nichol-Mclaren
Vlasic-Boyle
Martin-FA/Trade for Huskins
Murray-Demers
I havent decided what route they should do for goalies, there are so many options
But assuming they spend >1.5 on a goalie and 4.5-5 for Martin this should be plausible
