Kitsyn might play major junior next year ala Loktionov.

This kid and Loktionov are going to tear it apart on the same line. LOVE this pick!

looks like he has the tools and skill, just needs to be put in the right situation and guidance to mature and grow. Hopefully we see him in the CHL this upcoming season.

The Hockey News Draft Guide stated that at 14 he was being compared to Malkin then just didn't keep up with expectations and didn't get much playing time. Hopefuly this is addressed. Can't teach skill.

Question: Is there a risk with Kitsyn (not leaving the KHL)?

FUTA: “I don’t think there’s much of a risk. This kid has made a commitment, similar to our Loktionov situation. He has made a commitment where he wants to come over and play major-junior hockey. He has a contract right now. He’s working through it. I think there’s a good chance, and if he starts the season in the KHL, we’re not worried about it. There’s a good chance that he will, at some point, end up playing major junior, whether it’s this year or next year. We’re not going to put any pressure on him. He’s a young kid. As long as he’s getting regular ice time, playing against men, we know his goal is the same as these other young kids, like Voynov and Loktionov, to be playing over here. So we’re not worried about the risk of whether he will be here. We’re worried about getting him in the best development situation.”

The lack of production was very deceiving, until i realized he played in the KHL.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I believe he was one of, or THE leading scorer(s) in the junior league? I remember reading it somewhere earlier this month. I saw him play in the subway series(do they still call it that?), and was Russia's leading scorer too.

haha, that was me. I said that when he was walking towards the Kings table after he got picked. I was the loud belligerent guy in the old school away Gretzky jersey sitting in the 100 level to the left of the stage. A couple people and I were also the ones that got the "MICKEY.....MOUSE ....... CLUB" and the "ANAHEIM SUCKS!!!" chants going when the Ducks were picking.

Perfect! Kovalchuk is ours!

Seriously, we would have Kovalchuk, Loktionov, Voynov and Kitsyn. Building our very own LA Red Kings.

"Just a thought here, but the "shadowy face" doesn't work all that well when the draft pick apparently has the mandible of the Cloverfield monster."

Semi off topic, but here is the 10 most awkward NHL draft pictures. Maxim made the list in his creepy picture.
