Lito Sheppard used to be pretty good but I haven't watched him closely the last couple seasons so I can't really comment on him.

I do agree about the safeties. Soft and can't tackle worth ****. Williams loves to put his head down and charge at the guy but that usually results in a missed tackle. I don't even know what to say about Johnson and Sanford. I was excited about Johnson when we drafted him but he was pretty bad last season.
I agree that we're not too soft at corner. Benny Sapp and Asher Allen both showed good tackling ability, Allen was especially good on the blitz. Cook isn't quite as physical as they are (or especially Winfield of course), but he is definitely more physical than Griffin ever has been.

This is seriously the best corner depth this team has had since the early 90s.

That's kind of scary LOL...We'll see about Cook and Sheppard. Sheppard might turn out to be like another Sheppard in Minnesota.

Great start to training camp. Childress pissed off at AP for missing camp and Gerhart fumbling the ball on his first day.

Apparently Rice and Harvin are in great shape to start camp. They just don't have a QB to throw them the ball.....

My bad, that's what I meant. Point still stands, not the greatest start. I thought AP would be there working harder than ever before.

He's being honored by his home town isn't he? Nothing wrong with that IMO.

I hope we see these uniforms return again this season. Still not a big fan of the redesign.

It'll be pretty tough to overturn what the Vikings are doing, esp. with the season they had last year. If Favre comes back they could be dangerous, but if he doesn't, I don't know about the backups (Booty, Tavaris)

PA is one of my favorite announcers though, that guy loves Vikings

FYI - Booty is not a Viking anymore. The Vikes QB depth-chart without Favre has T-Jack, Sage and a new guy everyone thought was going to be a QB converted to WR, but has surprised EVEN the Vikings with his QB stuff to the point that even though they drafted him to move to WR, they are keeping him at QB and he will likely make the team no matter if Favre is here or not (meaning T-jack is likely gone and Sage would be the 2nd QB). Joe Webb may be the Vikings QB of the future with how he has impressed.

Sage will be the one out of a job if Favre comes back. The coaching staff was none to pleased that he was/is unable to pick up the offense. And they certainly aren't going to spend that much on a guy that's never going to see the field again. It speaks volumes that Sage couldn't beat Jackson out last season and by the looks of the reps they got during practice over the coarse of the year last season (Jackson worked the scout teams and #2 offense) in addition to the way Sage is being phased out already in mini camps, the writing is on the wall for his time in Minnesota.

I didn't know that Rosenhaus was his agent. Good to know.

On the plus side, Rice is downplaying it.

The thing that worries me... injuries like this always get downplayed now and sometimes they linger into the season anyway...

Well the ones that usually end up hurting the team happen early in the season rather than during the offseason (see: Winfield last season). But I get where you are coming from.

You obviously forgot about Matt Birk and his labrum issues that came up in the offseason as a "lingering hip injury". He played what... 2 games and then missed the rest of the year and all of the following season as well? He was supposed to be ready for camp without surgery. Turned out he tore the damn thing, needed surgery, then injured the opposite hip due to overcompensation while he was trying to go without surgery on the first.

More bad news... Peterson is unhappy with his contract...

There was speculation when Adrian Peterson missed the Vikings' mandatory minicamp in June that the running back might be unhappy with his contract.

Former NFL executive Michel Lombardi, who now works for league's website and NFL.com, has heard that Peterson definitely isn't pleased with his deal. Under the "Things I Hear" section of his new column, Lombardi writes that Peterson will be the next player to complain about his contract.

Peterson has three years left on the six-year, $40.5 million deal he signed after being the seventh-overall choice in the 2007 draft, but the reality is the final year (2012) of the deal is going to void. Thus, Peterson really has two years left.

Peterson has reached many of the incentives that he had in his contract and should make around $7 million in 2010. He will then make at the very least a little more than $10 million in 2011. However, there is a possibility his 2011 salary could reach an eye-popping $13 million with escalators.

The Vikings and Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, have not been willing to comment on the situation to date but if what Lombardi is hearing from NFL insiders is correct that silence could soon end.

We have depth at wide receiver and while Rice is important, we have enough to cover.

Well AD was at least happy enough to show up on Entourage tonight. They also made a Visanthe Shiancoe joke that I assume went over the heads of the majority of the audience.

Shocker!

Gerhart better get in camp soon, though. No excuse for that kid.
