Cheecho should sgin with pitt for under 1mil, no better place in the league to regain ur scoring touch then playing with crosby or malkin

actually maybe you should read your post before you throw out some smart-a$$ comment about other people. Here's a quote from your first post

"We also have Higgins who we will be able to sign for cheap and hopefully he can hit 30 goals again this year."

So highlights of that quote are - "We also HAVE" "we WILL be able to sign for cheap"

Boo.
LOL ur AHL team needs him, Murray has more class than to let this guy rot in the AHL just beacuse he made a terrible trade. save some cash let the guy try to get his career back on track, win win situation

Higgins has never scored 30 goals.

So, essentially he traded

And now Kotalik's contract is going to sit as dead-space on the Flames' cap and if they don't re-sign Higgins that will be all to show for a whole pile of players.
No he traded a 1st rounder matt lombardi and brandon prust for olli jokinen. You're assuming that sutter would of picked gormley..and really he did get a third cause of that jokinen trade which brought in bouwmeester and right now he is way better then gormley.

Panicking and professional GM rarely go well together. I wonder how some of these guys hold jobs. Sather and Sutter, total ineptitude lol.

No. For Cheech, it's over.

The Vandermeer buyout means Michalek will be kept?

My bad. I knew he was at least close that one year. Ok I will settle if he can get 27 goals again.

The Jokinen for Higgins and Kotalik trade is the most retarded deal I've ever seen

I'd be very surprised to see Kotalik bought out. The only way I see it happening this summer is if Sutter desperately needs the space for another much larger cap hit.

I think this is just Sutter's way of kicking the tires on Kotalik. I was the hugest opponent of this deal when it went down, but I am still in favour of giving Kotalik a chance at least for one more year. Even if he is bought out after that, the cap hit would only be 1 mil for 2 years.

Another issue to consider is that Kotalik still fills a roster spot and is likely to put up just as many points as someone on league minimum, with the potential for more from Kotalik. So in reality, the cap hit after a buyout becomes:

1.7mil, 1.7mil, 1.7mil, 1.7 mil.

Instead of

3 mil, 3 mil.

Not much of a savings overall, but if you are desperate for the 1.3 mil now, it makes sense... I guess.

It's not that he just magically lost his scoring touch. Double Hernia surgery destroyed his speed. He just isn't quick enough to keep up with the play on the top lines. It sucks though, he's a hard worker. If his contract was better than it is now I'd totally support bringing him back, but $3.5 is just too much.

And how's that Bouwmeester contract working out for you. Another off year for silent boo and that's another unmovable contract.

Uh yeah, our AHL team needs him. Class? Screw that man, he's got one more year @ 3 million and we'll pay him the 3 million...to play in the AHL.

Class...come on man.

I swear I read an article where Sutter said Kotalik would be part of their offense.

If they put him on re-entry waivers, someone might take him. IMO Kotalik is a good player, just not for 3 mill

Don't forget that he could have dealt Jokinen in the offseason and resigned Cammalleri instead.

I honestly don't care what it cost to get Kotalik + Higgins.... what's done is done and move on.

Sutter has made far more good moves for the Flames than he has bad ones. Please keep that in mind when trashing him incessantly about the Jokinen trade.

As per sportsnet and tsn 6lames appear to be buying out #26 and will announce that they qualified all of their RFA'S.
