If money were no object, Turco is probably the guy I'd take out of everyone, followed by Mason.
I agree with you, like I said hes been better later in his career. I didn't say he was bad, just that he didn't have the greatest playoff resume and was defending his playoff stats in that post.

If we had both it would certainly hedge our bets a little bit

Maybe he just needs a new start, but the last two years he was terrible and he was a big reason why.

I've gone back and forth about which one I'd have, but I'd have to think both would be better than what we dealt with last year.
Thanks, it was a typo. Anybody else remember him (and Nabokov coincidentally enough) playing in that game that year where the teams were trading odd man rushes, but everyone kept getting stoned for three overtimes? Now that was a goalie duel. I can't find that game anywhere. I tried to pay for it on iTunes but it never let me download it .

Flyers made it to the Stanley Cup last year and still have essentially the same team. That says numbers to goalies knowing we need to fill that gap who are looking for a competitive team to win a Cup with.

That's because Ellis isn't good enough to be a starter in the playoffs. He's a poor man's Biron at best.

Agreed, I just remember the GDT on the main board where fans of both teams were in cardiac arrest and everyone else was just awe struck.

That glove save Nabby made was Save of the Season and the fact that it came in a triple OT PO game...incredible.

Homer needs to realize that he is probably going to have to spend at least 3.25 to 3.75 a year to land one of the top goaltenders on the market. That's the reality behind it. I mean, Nabokov at 3.5 or Turco at 3.25 are a steal when compared to the current starters in Philadelphia. Now isn't the time to skimp on the most important position that is holding this team back from possibly securing a Stanley Cup.

I just looked it up. It was a 2-1 Stars win in the 2008 Western Semi-Finals against SJ that went to 4OT. Maybe if we get Turco and Washington/Tampa gets Nabby and this happens again. Hockey gold.

Damn Solid Snake, put that in a spoiler box!

For anyone that hasn't seen the game, go watch it. The back-and-forth of the game was just amazing.

Seriously. It's easily top 5 non-Flyers games I've ever seen. That includes all levels of play.

Eh, this is an absolute buyer's market... he should be aggressive on as low a deal as he can get. Thus, that offer is actually pretty savvy. He'll need to go up, but no harm in putting it out there.

You could just post a link to the video, either way it's not that important. Now that I think about it, I doubt anyone actually goes and finds the entire game to watch (if you do tell me where).

I want Turco. I'd be willing to go as high as $3.5m per for him, and I'm the guy who refuses to pay goalies more than $4.0m per.
$3.5 for a "top" goalie isnt bad, especially with the cap going up....Like I said, I prefer him above Nabokov, but I dont want any more than 2-3 years.

Have you even bothered looking at Turco's playoff stats in the last 2 years he made it?

06-07 GAA 1.30 SV% .952
08-09 GAA 2.08 SV% .922

Mason's best year (he has only played 2 years in POs) is still worse than both of those.

I order:

Turco
Ellis
Mason
Nabokov
Turco has won less playoff series than Leighton, hasnt he?

And you know that based on his one time in the playoffs and one season as the starting goalie???

Did you look at his playoff stats in his one appearance?

2007-08 Nashville NHL 6 2 4 - 357 15 240 2.52 .938

Factoring in age, he is my first choice of anyone available, depending on money. If Reese can make Leighton a good goalie, what can he do with someone that was already a good NHL goalie?
