So no Valatenko? Guess he's too old for a Prospects camp.

The one guy I'm really curious about is Werek. Jess Rubenstein thinks he can make the Rangers (I know, I know one person's opinion) but I wanna see what he can do at this level and if he's gonna turn some heads. He had a great Traverse City/Main Camp last year.

Grachev really has this fire to make it now or so he gives that impression.

Me too. That interview was very interesting. It sounds like he really understands that it takes hard work to make it to the NHL and I like that he wasn't satisfied with his progress last year.

Great interview with Grachev. Kid definitely seems to have his head on straight. I expect great things.

Hard not to like Grachev

edit: hah, like 30 seconds after he mentions how Pashnin follows him around because he doesn't speak any English, you see Pashnin lurking in the background

I don't know what it is...but this kid puts a smile on my face. very personable. Seems like he has a good sense of himself.

He sounded mature, confident and ready for the NHL. IMO

It looks like he filled out pretty good. much bulkier from what you can tell on the video. he looks like an NHL'r right now.

Grachev is a class act and a good player who will have a solid NHL career. A buddy of mine billets kids in Brampton and told me that Grachev was a great kid and wasn't necessarily a product of Hodgson and Duchene. He also sees him as a Malkin lite as far as being hard to knock off the puck.

Quick question on their numbers.

If Stepan, Grachev and McDonagh make the team, what are their numbers?

21, 19 and 8?

Grachev is a boss. Didn't realize he spoke English so well.

Would LOooooove to see Grachev take the next step, the kids got his head on straight.

Pair him with what I hope is another level from Anisimov (i'm the most excited about seeing what he can do this year) and i think thats a combination that might be pretty special over the years. That has a potential to be an extremely skilled and large forward line.

I think we saw a lot of raw talent from Grachev in the AHL last year, and hopefully this is the year where he gets to cut his teeth at the NHL level but hits his stride and gains a lot of confidence. He seems like a player that feeds off of confidence.

Demote Redden and let McDonagh take his number.

Seriously.

Get younger, how much younger can we get without completely sacrificing the whole season? Rushing Stepan and Grachev to the NHL will only hurt them. Weise and Byers I'm sure are ready but we've got to be bringing Prust back and possibly Shelley as well so where do they fit?

McDonagh should be on the bottom pairing opening day and Redden should be in Hartford but there are doubts there now too.

Is it a harsh reality to face that Redden will be on the ice in Buffalo on October 9th?

I think we'll really see what this team is planning on Thursday.

Per RangerBoy's Newsday article, Sather said Redden "has been discussed" and that there is a general belief among the media that Redden will be demoted.

Tortorella's comments at the end of the year on Redden definitely means that hes fallen out of favor with him.

Redden needs to be "weeded out."

hahaha awww that's funny. I'm wondering how Pash is looking more than most of the prospects there. I feel like he's another prospect that should be looked at for a future season like 2012, maybe 2013. He was the first overall pick of the KHL for their first ever draft. But does any1 have more info on how much that actually means? Was he a consensus 1 overall, was the scouting for kids that good since it was the first ever draft? He also had agreat first season by what I read but though I don't wanna get too high on him too early I am definitely intrigued because the KHL seems to have its stuff together so 1st ever 1st overall seems like a prestigous thing.

It means something, but not nearly as much as being the #1 in the NHL draft, especially since it was the 1st year of the KHL draft. Basically, all the teams protected a number of players and held a draft for the rest. At least, that was my understanding of it. Squishy could give you more details as she's much more tuned in to the goings on in Russia.

I think Grachev is the first Russian hockey player I have ever seen that doesn't have a deep Russian accent, he has almost nothing at all.

grachev needs to have a solid camp and grab a roster spot.

this team so needs and big, skilled top 9 forward who can score some goals from in front like he can. hes got something we really dont have right now. size and skating with skill.

he just needs to step up.

Not sure I'd bank on Grachev making the team out of camp. Let's not forget how much developing he had to do last year in the AHL. Going off that, he's not NHL ready yet

But there's always a chance to pull a Dubinsky and make the team out of camp despite a slow AHL career start

According to Zipay (http://twitter.com/stevezipay) its 2-1 White in the Red-White scrimmage after 20 minutes. Kreider, Niemi and Horak with the goals
